View Full Version : 3ball explain why you think Lebron wouldn't be unstoppable in the 1980's

This video down below 3ball is the number one defence in the 1986 Celtics playing against basically a modern-day wing in Jordan who isn't as great as an outside shooter or slasher as Lebron is.

And watch how badly Jordan lights them up.

Lebron would have the time of his life facing those unathletic guys.

Seriously compare this level of defence to the 2017 Warriors who Lebron lit up and it isn't even close

lebron would absolutely destroy the 80s. teams didn't have good transition defense at all...they were focused on offensive rebounding.

3ball is a bitch

I took this dude's soul so many times that I got bored

17 year old lebron was already cooking at tim grover's gym against NBA pros. of course 24 year-old lebron in his prime would annhilate any era of the NBA. he's the most athletic and intelligent player to ever pick up a basketball.

skip bayless - lebron's biggest hater - says lebron has the highest basketball IQ in the league alongside chris paul and he says lebron is the GOAT at driving to the rim and in the fastbreak

that's an untouchable combination.

The issue is until recently, Bron had a broken ass J. Now that he is a decent shooter I think he could dominate as he has later in his career (ex: see how he struggled vs the Spurs vs how he feasted vs the Warriors). I think with how Bron was most of his career, he probably would have been more of a James Worthy type, which of course is still a hall of famer...just not at the level you are talking about. I've always said he's a modern day Elgin Baylor, little less good of a rebounder but better passer

LeBron has not had a broken jumper most of his career. From what I remember his jumper was solid with Miami. Had seasons % wise where he shot very well from mid-range and 3 in those years. And that was like a decade ago.

I didn't even read the 2nd part of his post, but that was just atrocious. "James Worthy type player". Lmfao.

Bron would be great in any era but he's very stoppable in any era also. Getting great stats doesn't equal unstoppable dude.

PEDs weren't where they are now

Players were also allowed to play tough, LeFeather would 100% now handle that.
Imagine the bad boy Pistons shitting on him, it's actually hilarious to think about....the dude is soft as fvck.

Interesting. Looks like the body types of the warrior teams that Bron has face this decade. Also looks like the body types of the spurs he played when in Miami. Pretty sure OKC during that time was similar also. You have to stop ethering yourself bruh:D

Then how come he had a losing record vs the old, unathletic spurs and Mavericks?

The 80s may have been run and gun in the regular season but the playoffs was more halfcourt and a different intensity. And the paints were packed. It was a tough environment for a slasher which is why all the best players were either shooters or post players.

Would LeBron be great and if he had great team would win a ring or two? Sure. But Celtics and Lakers would win more still because we know they had GOAT chemistry on top of their great talent.

:biggums:

You can't be serious. LeBron would adjust and dominate any era.

Completely wrong on both - can't even fathom how little you must know about basketball to genuinely think that.

Very stoppable as in 7,631 points #1 all time? Or as in 55 Win Shares most all time? Or as in 4 FMVPs, second most all time? :lol Tool

Ditto to you. LeBron is 100% a better shooter and slasher than Jordan. And don't even get me started on 90s wing defenders (Starks, Hornacek, Byron Russell) and 10s (Kawhi, Draymond, Paul George, Butler).

He'd be even more of a freak in the 80s than he was in his prime. There was probably close to umm, nobody that strong on the perimeter in that era.
