Apparently Lebrons movie company produced it. I saw a trailer for it when I went to see…something. I was thinking it was like a modern “The air up there” but it’s not a comedy. Supposed to be full of nba players and all. I’ve heard Anthony Edwards was great but it feels like it has a high “Why didn’t I just start the new season of The Boys” potential.
It’s the top movie on Netflix but we all know they rig that by suggesting their own movies to everyone at once. When I saw the trailer I figured it was a theater release but…it is what it is.
This is what movies are now.
Someone throw away 15 minutes and tell me if it looks promising. I’ll be playing a waaaaaaay too long game of Mario party in the meantime.

Oh and for the record I was told the air up there was based on the story of Hakeem at the time:

Of course it isn’t and I was skeptical about even then but it had its charm for its time. It could never come out today though.

He was great in Uncut Gems.
I feel like he’s the type to unexpectedly shine in dramatic roles like Jim Carrey. Acts like a buffon for 20 years then boom….eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and Truman show.

Was a good movie to me. I loved the training montage scene. Really inspires you and makes you realize how many of these players put in so much hard work to get where they are. I'm sure none of these guys don't' simply get born and walk into an NBA court without hardwork.
Honestly. I was impressed that Lebron was listed as producer and didn't make an appearance in the film. In the past he comes off as the type that would gloat and want to be in a movie as easily as he couldv'e been in this since there's so many NBA personalities in it.

Click came out a while ago and was super sad. And had a good message that you can't fast forward through the negative if you want to enjoy the positive.
But either way water boy, happy gilmore, billy Madison, and big daddy were great movies.
How is this scene not serious?

Im sure he doesn’t actually do anything with any of the movies. He just has his name on it. And that’s probably intelligent. If I remember correctly like 350 million of his billion next worth is off selling some portion of his production company. He’s probably gonna make more off films than basketball long term.

Ant Edwards was the best. What can't the kid do?

I heard someone say Click was serious as hell with a funny looking coating to get you to watch it. Something about how we would all skip the key parts of life by rushing or something. Like it had a serious point but was made to look like a comedy.

Adam Sandler gets clowned for his billy Madison or water boy roles... which were great comedies... but the thing is the guy has produced and acted in movies that run the gamut of emotions. I dare you not to cry at the end of click. If so you're emotionless. (which given your username and implied origin wouldn't surprise me)
While superstar actors all tend to be the same guy.... Deniro is always the tough guy gangster, brad Pitt is always the pretty boy cool guy, Denzel is always the bad ass tough talker, DiCaprio is like a squinty eyed brad Pitt etc. Sandler actually evokes a wide range of emotions. His movies can make you laugh or cry depending on the one. And he's not there just because he's a pretty boy like most actors. He has legit acting talent.

Unexpectedly? Go watch Punch Drunk Love. Sandler is just fine in dramatic roles and has been for a very long time now.
Hustle was good for what it was. Appeals to all audiences but eventually you see that it plays out as a 2K career mode which is fine and all but could have used one more element to the story line.
Definitely worth a watch and I thought they did a great job of threading present day NBA players and staff into the story.

Decent. Pace never really drags so you won’t be bored.
Weird how most players play themselves and a couple do not.
You aren’t missing anything if you don’t see it.
It reminded me of Blue Chips. It got better reviews but they’re on the same level imo. I like Blue Chips better tbh.

Just watch it without expecting to see a masterpiece. I don't see how anyone who enjoys basketball wouldn't enjoy this film. It's not bad at all and the Sandler hate is ridiculous.

I know he loves pick up basketball, but under no circumstances can I buy Adam Sandler, a pudgy Jew as a collegiate level basketball player and quality athlete. My suspension of disbelief is immediately tarnished. That said, the reflection of Anthony Edwards as the villainess black athlete, pretty accurate

Sandler's great in dramatic roles, but he can really only play a guy down on his luck (though hes great at it). Reign Over Me he was great in.

Sandler is my GOAT
Hustle isn't even good but Sandlers charm makes it enjoyable. That sums up his movie career really.
