 Here we go again.

I don't think you're as dense as you put on. It's just your way of rabble-rousing. And that's cool.

But for any third parties that think you actually made a good point:

Let's say someone has 25 ppg in empty stats, and someone else has 50 ppg in empty stats. Who would get the higher ranking? Obviously the guy that doubles the other one, all else being equal.

Wilt's personal accomplishments blow Bronie's out of the water. He's lacking in team accomplishments though, which is what keeps him from being GOAT. Same with Bronie. You don't get rewarded for losing.

What do both of them have in common? Neither of them were able to get to #1.

How the hell do you have someone in the top 3 who has "empty stats" to begin with? :lol

Not to mention you're not even taking into account the pace/competition both players played when talking about numbers.

Comparing numbers from the 60's to now is very low IQ.

13x All-NBA First Team

Wilt
2x Champion
4x NBA MVP

7x All-NBA First Team

LeBron clearly the more accomplished player, but somehow Wilt "blows him away" in that department. :lol

What a load of garbage and you're not even taking into account the era and pace he played to get all those scoring records. Let me break it down for you, Wilt's team in 1962 shot the ball 112 times a game, the average team today takes 88 shots a game, that's 24 more attempts. Everyone and their mama knows Wilt's stats although amazing, were super inflated. Even with all the rebounding records, all the advanced stats say Dennis Rodman was a better rebounder than Wilt.

Imagine using pointless records he has in a playoff series that isn't the Finals while playing in the most stat inflated era ever and use it as a "career achievement". :lol....this is a great example...."NBA playoff record – Most rebounds in a half (26 against the San Francisco Warriors on April 16, 1967)"

Weak ass hell

Hey man, if you want to turn this into a Wilt appreciation thread, I'm happy to oblige.

You say it was the most stat inflated era ever and talk about pace and all that. Well, if it was so easy, why was nobody else putting up those kinds of numbers? Nobody else came CLOSE. The FACT is, that relative to competition, nobody else was ever so far ahead of his peers. Like it or not, that's a fact.

Now you can weight whatever criteria you want in your own rankings, but in my book Wilt is top 3. I'm sure I'll be rehashing this is in a different thread a few weeks from now when you ask the same silly questions again.

You had Richie Guerin average 30 ppg in the same year Wilt averaged 50. Who? Exactly.

Jerry Lucas was grabbing 20 rebounds a game in his prime. Even though the advanced numbers in '71 when he averaged 16 boards show he wasn't a great rebounder, just good. (Only 17 TRB%). For comparison sake, Drummond averaged 16 rebounds in 2018 and had a TRB% of 26, superior to Lucas' '71 season.

You really think Wilt & Russell would average 25 rpg if they played today? Hell no. Teams take less shots and are more efficient in making their shots. Resulting in less rebounds available.

This proves his stats are indeed inflated.

The way I weight the criteria for all time rankings, FMVP is the most important. It's the ultimate combination of team and individual achievement and represents the pinnacle of the sport.

Jordan has 6, Bronie has 4.

That's certainly not the only area in which Jordan (and others) blows Bronie out of the water, but I think it's the most prominent.

Rings don't mean that much to me.

If Kyrie and Allen miss those two shots in 2013 and 2016.

Then Lebron would have only 2 rings despite playing for 19 years and yet I would still view him the same as I do nowadays.

As for Wilt.

In Wilt's heartbreaking four-game seven losses against the Celtics dynasty which is by far the greatest dynasty in the history of American sports.

The Celtics won all of them by a combined nine points."

This means the Celtics won by an average margin of ~2.3 points within these game sevens.

To put that in perspective If they hadn't converted on basically any one or two possessions in all those games.

Wilt could be sitting on six rings and his entire legacy and the way we perceive him nowadays would be entirely different.

Yet he would still be the same player.

coastalmarker99
06-18-2022, 09:58 PM
Chamberlain said this before he passed away.

''I look back at my career...and there were five 7th games in playoff series.

Five times I lost and four of them by a total of nine points.

Now think about that.

Nine points going the other way, and I might have had four or five more championship rings.

So I sometimes get a little frustrated when I hear people talk about,

"Yeah, well you only won two Wilt."

I could have won seven rings but I would have been the same player.

When (John) Paxson goes out and shoots a 3-point shot that wins the game for Chicago (in 1993).

No one takes anything away from Jordan because he just won the championship.

But if Paxson missed that shot, they would have lost that championship.

Well, that has happened to me five times... and that's frustrating.

You know you're playing as well as those guys who won.
I remember one series exactly: I scored the last ten points, we were behind, within one, with a few seconds to go.

And one of the other guys on my team threw the ball inbounds and it's the famous, "Havlicek stole the ball!"

It was just one of those things that happened.

The ball slips out of his hand, he throws it right to Havlicek, and we lose a game that we could have won.

It was the seventh game so you know that you had the ability, but the end result was that we lost. And that's the way it goes.

Hey, I made some poetry for Lebron James too.

Ode to Lebron James

He came to the league with great expectations,
They dubbed him The Chosen One.
He gave himself the name King James,
His haters called him LeBum.

Athleticism carried him to great heights,
But he couldn't win a chip,
So he told the Cavs, "See you later!"
And turned around and jumped ship.

He switched his number to twenty-three;
Like Mike he wanted to be.
But Mike's shoes were too big - he couldn't fill them,
As it was plain to see.

His fanboys would say, "Just watch him play,
He gets rebounds, assists, and such."
Good stats he got, but they mattered not
'Cause he couldn't come through in the clutch.

The problem was, he couldn't win a title,
'Til he found a brilliant solution.
He'd get his ring one way or another,
By tampering and collusion.

He won three finals and lost six more,
His fans forgave his losing.
"It's his teammate's fault," they always would say,
As they clung to the stats of their choosing.

Twenty twenty came - the year of the bubble,
He brought the Heat to their knees.
But he couldn't repeat, because Anthony Davis
Got injured by a stiff breeze.

Bronie became desperate; he needed more rings.
So his War Room came up with a plan.
If anybody can save the Lakers
Surely Russ Westbrick can.

"A storm is a-comin'," Lebron proclaimed,
But he said it a little too soon.
When the post-season arrived, where was Bronie?
Kicked back on a beach in Cancun.

Now he's got four rings and three asterisks
But he never was quite the best,
He got smashed by Durant, crushed by Kawhi,
And sonned by Delonte West.
