Do you think he would have slowed Shaq down as he did with Wilt and Kareem?

Or would Shaq's physical dominance and bully-bull playstyle be too much for Nate to handle as it was for Mutombo?

Probably the most underrated defensive big ever. Dude gave Kareem major fits.

Hard to say how he would have done against Shaq, but Sabonis doesn't get enough credit for his defense against Shaq in the 2000 playoffs.

Players weren't allowed to use much if any physicality in Nate/Wilt's era. The answer to your question depends on what era they're playing in. If it's the '60s/'70s, Nate could definitely slow him down. The fast pace would tire that version of Shaq out I think.

If it were Shaq's era, it would be harder to stop him. He'll be allowed to use his strength to get deep post position and dislodge Nate.

I think Wilt would have slowed him down somewhat but Russell and Kareem would have gotten eaten alive by peak Shaq.

shaq made more mothers cry than any player in NBA history.

how do you even watch the game when you see what shaq is doing to your kid.

they say they changed the rules for curry - all of these foul rules are because of shaq. he slowed the game down and scored every single ****ing time.

It was downright scary watching Peak Shaq as once he got the ball down low.

There was nothing teams could do besides hack him and send him to the foul line.

But even then Shaq would just go right through them for the and one.

God, I would give anything to see Shaq or Wilt in today's game.

As If they were surrounded by shooters as the Bucks did with Giannis.

Shaq would be even more unstoppable offensively in this era with the spacing he would get.

If you surround him with a team of shooters his team would be a serious title threat.

Peak Shaq won't do well in this era. On defense, all you need to do is foul him. On offense, his only forte is rim protection. His PnR defense was all time horrible. The 3 point switch heavy scheme nowadays would destroy Shaq.

Early, non peak Shaq would be much better suited in this era. The version who got swept by Hakeem.

What he did on Kareem was crazy

1971: 28 ppg on 49%
1972: 23 ppg on 24 shots and 41%
1973: 23 ppg on 23 shots and 43%

Kareem from 1971-73 averaged 32 ppg on 57%, and in the preceding and following playoffs averaged

1970: 35 ppg on 57%
1974: 32 ppg on 56%

Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace shut down Shaq, Moses, Nate, Russell, Mikan and Wilt would have owned him. Shaq's ability was based on moving his fat ass against skinny centers the physical guys would have tired him out after the first and beat him down the stretch.
