Sources: Kyrie Irving, Nets are at impasse in conversations about his future in Brooklyn, clearing way for the seven-time All-Star to consider the open market. Lakers and Knicks expected to emerge among potential suitors.Inside Pass at @TheAthletic (https://twitter.com/TheAthletic?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetem bed%7Ctwterm%5E1538873230534090755%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwc on%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fclutchpoints.com%2Fnets-news-kyrie-irving-future-in-brooklyn-hitting-a-breaking-point-lakers-knicks-clippers-ready-to-pounce%2F):

As talented as he is, I would absolutely never sign this dude, ESP considering the amount of money you'd have to invest in him. Always injured, bad locker room presence, hasn't played well in the playoffs in several years, and frankly doesn't seem to have basketball as his top priority in life.

I was more so referring to another team, not Brooklyn. If the Nets don't sign Kyrie I wouldn't even be surprised if KD demands a trade within the next year or two :lol

LAL is so shit lol. If not for getting Westbrook I’m sure they would’ve had a chance to get this guy outright just dumping the right contracts.

Now they have to assassinate Westbrook to get out of that deal

Haha, I hope he does and I hope the Nets get nothing in return.

Funny as shit to see Durant's career go down in flames in terms of winning anything especially right after GSW won again without him.

Kevin Durant basically single handedly "trashed" part of LeBron's basketball legacy in terms of people being able to honestly discuss how good LeBron really was... by teaming up with a 73 win team. And then he and Steph both self cucked each other's legacies to an extent.

Damn.

**** KD and Kyrie.

I can't see Kyrie playing on the Heat. Riley/Spo wont put up with his nonsense. Neither would Butler.

You flat out can’t trust Kyrie. He clearly doesn’t have basketball anywhere near his top priority and comes off like a guy who just happens to be really good at something he doesn’t like to do. He’s always demanding rest days, disappears from where he tells his team he will be, and has even talked about early retirement to go do other things. That’s fine if he doesn’t want to play ball but SAS is right to call him delusional for thinking he should get a max deal when you never know if he’s going to suit up based on how he feels that day.

Does this make Lakers the favorite? They don't have the outright space so there would have to be a trade. LA is not going to give up James or Davis so how many draft picks do you have to toss in with Westbrook to make it worth it to pisqs or Durant as much as they may be about to piss off Durant?

Funny thing though: I predict that next year the Nets have a better record and don't lose in the first round, thus making the trade"good."

if AD wasn't made out of glass the lakers would have won 2 of the last 3 rings

I'll give last year's bucks the benefit of the doubt.

would have snatched this year's ring FOR SURE if AD wasn't bambi.

All true but if James wants him in LA he will get another payday. You have an MVP level James and Davis still in his prime. Both guys may need 20 games rest but you have to be all-in for a championship with those two and when Irving agrees with the phase of the moon the offense will be elite.

But no most teams should not max him.

How did Durant make the playoffs this year?

One of the greatest carry jobs of all time and he should've won MVP over Jokic. Injuries aside, it's the biggest carry job I've seen in the last 20 years.

Curry just got his fourth ring. No one cares what he may have done as Nets franchise player. KD engineered that whole scenario and gets no sympathy for its failure.

But with that said...I am sure that Tatum and Curry both could lead a team to a first round sweep and that after they did they would get no credit for that whatsoever.

Gonna give Kyrie the benefit of the doubt here. After missing half the season, it's easier for me to believe kyrie could have just been getting extra work in not undermining the coach. It could be a situation like the NFL where Nash couldn't actually be there for the second practice without a huge fine for Brooklyn.

there's a very obvious pattern with that gentleman.

Such benefit of the doubt might be fair to give most guys in that situation, but Irving has a WELL documented history of resenting and publicly undermining his coaches. This is who he is. There IS no doubt here.

“Did you know that this brother Kyrie Irving last season would conduct his own practices? So when Steve Nash had the team on the floor, and they practiced, they would finish and he’d go and get five guys and conduct his own practice. … Do you have any idea how disrespectful that is to Steve Nash?”

If he got 5 other guys to practice with him, it's hard for me to believe the practices were structured around undermining Steve Nash. Kyrie doesn't have influence like Lebron. That's the level he'd have to be for half the team to follow his directive counter to the head coach.

How far is Durant willing to go to get what he wants though? People didn't like it when he signed with the Warriors but no one can say that he's ever been unprofessional. Harden gets moved when he wants because he's willing to dog it. It's Durant ready to devalue his word and play like crap or refuse to play at all until he's in a new team?

I think the tough thing about kyrie and KD is they love ball more than business aspect. KD has a chance to add to hos legacy but at least he's a top 15 All time great.

Kyrie will probably straighten up as this will be his last chance at a clear max contract. 29 and signing a 4 5 year deal is probably his focus .

Lmao a carry job during a season the nets had one of the most stacked teams in NBA history? Even accounting for the fact Harden ended up leaving.

Curry was out half the season last year and still came excruciatingly close to carrying one of the worst rosters in the league to the play-offs. You are on crack.

Curry played more games in 2021 than durant this year.

Durant had a better record than curry in games they played, despite curry being on a stacked team and nets dealing with numerous injuries, kyrie missing most of the season cause no vaccine, and Harden trade where the guy they traded for didn't play.
