Which duo would you want to surround a star player with?

Gimme that tree trunk Pippen and Goat #3 option Grant.
I need me some defense with great scoring--strong duo for that!

Honestly, if we are talking primes of each player, Love and Irving is the obvious answer. Actually each of them on their own are better than Pip and Grant. Horace Grant was what Steve Adams is now. Prime Love is better than both. Pip would have the defensive advantage but Love is a better rebounder/scorer. Prime non-crazy Kyrie is also better than both. Again, Pip has the defensive advantage and rebounding advantage on Kyrie but Kyrie’s scoring os on a completely different level than Pip.

Depends on the era honestly. I'd take pip and grant in the 90s and kyrie and love now.

That is who LeBron beat a 73-9 team with. Let that sink in.
kyrie is the most talented - more accurate might be to say the most skilled - of the group. but he is injured 50% of the time and a headcase 100% of the time
pippen is a modern NBA scout's dream. popovich chip engelland udoka when he was there and the resof that staff- the spurs would've molded pippen into a kawhi-type no problem with those physical tools.

Which duo made it through a 3peat, and which one suffered injuries with one of them literally leaving the team coming off a finals run?
There's your answer.

Who do I want to play defense & collect rebounds so scorer can focus on scoring?!

It depends on the kind of 1st option you have
If you have a ball-dominator (Lebron/Luka), we know that they can't beat good teams while carrying the scoring (too ball-dominant), so they'll need an elite-scoring sidekick that can nearly match their scoring in the Finals like Wade, AD or Kyrie..
Otoh, if you have an off-ball player at 1st option (Curry/MJ), they can beat good teams while carrying the scoring load (good brand of ball at high scoring burdens), so they can win with less scoring help and secondary scorers like Wiggins, Klay or Pippen.

In 3 days you went from downplaying Curry's greatness to touting his supreme skillset.
You started off downplaying his elite level of play in a weak attempt to reduce LeBron's GOAT and yes I do say GOAT 2016 championship. Then you realized Kobe has no chance to dethrone LeBron so you resorted to using Curry to bash LeBron.
The funny part is, Curry is great and so is LeBron. End of story. Stop making fairy tales, you're a terrible writer with ADHD.

Out of those four, the best duo would be Pippen and Love.

Curry's brand of ball is far superior, so he can win while carrying the scoring load against top teams (and therefore win with less help like Wiggins), while Lebron-ball needs all-time scorers at sidekick like Wade, AD or Kyrie to win

4 FMVP vs 1 FMVP
Yep, night and day :lol Just like the difference between LBJ and Curry based on anyone that actually watched the 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 Finals.
