Went to the supermarket here in Northern Virginia - eggs were $7 a dozen and only available in Large size and half gallon of milk was approaching $5. A couple of weeks ago they were roughly half that price. Thank you Joe Biden for blaming it all on Putin.
just keep hoping i'm wrong in one hand, and shitting in the other hand

That is not an 8% inflation. That is 100%, double the price inflation.

Anyone can go to walmart.com or other grocery chain sites right now to view the cost of eggs. Average prices are just over $2. (https://www.ams.usda.gov/sites/default/files/media/Egg%20Markets%20Overview.pdf) Using eggs as your inflation gauge is just bizarre.

at this point, these companies are just inflating the prices themselves because they can. either that and/or they're making their portions smaller in such a subtle way that people don't even notice.

If you are paying under 8 dollars for a dozen eggs and under 10 dollars for a gallon of milk you better be raising your own chickens and cows because you are going to eventually pay in the long run for eating that industrial crap. Plebs race to the bottom and line the pocket of corporate agriculture devils. Real mofos don’t sell out their American farmers. They go to the closest farmers market buying local and organic.
I wonder how op's life is going atm while probably still thinking about the prices of those precious eggs.

I think I got into farming/homesteading at the right time.
Over the past year or so I have been able to start eating my own homegrown organic pastured eggs, drinking my own homemade organic raw goat milk, making my own butter/cheese from my milk, and eating all kinds of homegrown organic fruits and veggies... and the more that I replace supermarket foods with foods that I grew or acquired from my farming neighbors, the healthier and stronger I feel. Next year I plan to set up a farm stand and start selling some of my eggs and maybe a few other things, and ultimately I think the market for organic and high quality natural foods is going to skyrocket in the coming years.
Op hasn't come back anymore.
