View Full Version : When did you realize Curry was the greatest player in the league?

I think it was on January 25, 2016 when in the historic battle of the two teams with the best regular records in the league the Warriors (41-4) wiped the floor with the Spurs (38-7) on their way to a 30-point victory. This came a week after the Warriors drubbed the Cavaliers by 34-points causing LeBron to call for Blatt's sacking.

How long did it take you to see the obvious?

He definitely had his stretch where I thought his peak play was up there with the greatest ever.

Not sure if I'd put him as the best player now ahead of Giannis and Jokic, though he did just win the title, and appeared to be cruising in the regular season. But its definitely one of them 3.

Who cares about the regular season? I thought greatness is supposed to be measured during the postseason.

Curry was already a defending champion at that time after leading the championship team full of finals first timers with the longest odds at the beginning of a season of any championship team in at least the past 30 years to a championship.

Lol odds barely mean anything. The warriors already made b2b playoff berths in 2013 and 2014 under mark jackson. After his short tenure, steve kerr then transformed them into a formidable dynasty.

2016, when like 75% of their games were over after the 3rd quarter. That 2016 RS Warriors squad might have been the most exciting Regular Season team in NBA history. They started out 24 - 0 with Curry averaging 33/5/6 on 52/47/91 splits.

I’m the regular season? 2016.

Giannis is the best player now.

That warrior thunder game that was probably the best regular season game of all time.

You’ve never been close to making a post that suggests you can process basic addition problems.

I agree with those who are saying Giannis is the best. He can dominate on both ends of the court. Curry's had a very streaky year and can only dominate on the offensive end.

I have

Lebron
Durant
Jokic
Embiid
Giannis
Butler
Luka
Booker

For sure over curry currently

Did I miss anyone? Kawhi, Tatum, and Jamal Murray(most underrated player in the league) when healthy are better too imo. Maybe Anthony Davis.

Lot of guys.

He is obviously the best. The best is equal the player most likely to win the championship with the right team around them. Clearly Curry.

When he won an MVP after hitting a historic 67 which had only been achieved once at that point of this century. Then he proceeded to beat 4 1st ALL NBA stars through the playoffs as he won the first championship (him being the 5th 1st ALL NBA). :applause:

Legendary greatness.

Is that the year Andre Iguadola won finals mvp? And the year lebron receivied votes for fmvp on the losing team? I think it may also be the season the warriors faced injured teams in every series. And still barely won the title.

You mean the series where Curry had two 17-point 4th quarters? Steph is the only player in NBA history to have multiple 17-point 4th quarters in the finals. Yeah Andre getting the FMVP when both Steph and the inferior player were on the court is looking dumber and dumber with each passing year. Your definition of barely is even dumber. Barely winning is what the inferior player did in the following season's finals.

Curry was legit insane in the 2016 regular season. He hasn't hit the level of play since then IMO.

The 2015 Finals when Curry shit the bed and LeBron nearly raped him without Kyrie or Love? See, this is why Curry gets trolled. Don't do that to him, he doesn't deserve all that heat.

47% TS shooting on 33 attempts per game. Worst finals shooting performance in NBA history all while being defended on single coverage.

But somebody told they're not a dynasty since they didn't three-peat.

47% on 33 shots is worse than 45% on 23 shots. He's taking 10 more shots per game to barely shoot better. Kobe's 04 and 00 are up there as some of the worst shooting performances ever. Kobe in 2000 was an all time worst with 41%, but he was a clear #2 option and scored 15 points on 15 shots.

i disagree when you look at who they're taking shots from. shaq avg 27 ppg on 62 ts% yet kobe attempted 6 more shots per gm.

Taking shots from Shaq who was scoring so well is a good point, that might swing it the other way. Also another all time horrible finals 2007. Lebron had a 43% TS all while being the #1 option in a series that he could have done a lot more. It's often forgotten because he was amazing to bring the team to the final, but he was all time horrible once they forced him to be a shooter.

Either way you look at it, 00, 04, 07 and 15 are some of the worst shooting finals performances ever by a superstar.

He received more votes than one-dimensional, stat-padding curry

The game is more than scoring efficiency. Lebron can be inefficient while being by far the best player on the floor.. curry can't

Btw if you live in the bay area we can meet up. I'll give you a burner snapchat and we can arrange the details. Just lmk

Ridiculous. He's been at-least close to #1 for a while now. I don't know which year I'd put him as the clear cut #1.

He finished 3rd in the MVP race last year and won it twice in the past. At the very least he was close.
