My vote would be protect the nation you are elected to lead first and be very wary of being the world police. Sacrificing u.s lives for foreign wars.

It might be easier for people to swallow the high gas prices if the sanctions were actually doing something to stop Putin... but Russia is steamrolling Ukraine (even regime mouthpieces like NYT and WAPO are admitting it now), and thanks to the idiotic sanctions the ruble has become the best performing currency in the entire world while the west is getting absolutely crushed economically.
