Pistons clearing space. On that subject I stole this from Twitter:

. Starting centers on NBA champs

Kevon Looney: $5.2M
Brook Lopez: $12.7M
Dwight Howard: $2.6M
Marc Gasol: $24.1M
JaVale McGee: $1.5M
Tristan Thompson: $14.3M
Andrew Bogut: $12.9M
Tiago Splitter: $10.0M

Avg salary: $9.3M

Keep that in mind when chatting Ayton max or Gobert trade.

Centers seem to be the “Scrape something together” position these days.

OP the GOAT confirming the trend that the NBA has had in place for a while

rudy gobert is the single most overrated player in the league right now

the NBA rules right now favor elite wing scoring talent and dominant physical players that have size. the best players all fit that mold with kd tatum luka and lebron who are all well-rounded players that can finish at the rim

the best players in the league have a combination of size and skill and even the centers are getting in on the action with embiid and jokic

curry is the only outlier and he makes up the gap by being extremely elite in one of those skills, that being shooting

the center position is finished. if a center cant run up and down the court, he cant play in the league.

shawn bradleys of the league wouldnt even get a spot today

As a Suns fan Id love to see what Chris Paul could do with a guy like Westbrook added to the back court, in a three headed monster with DevBook.

If I’m the Suns I’m seriously looking at flipping Ayton for Westbrook.

Lakers would kinda be getting shafted but maybe they could then flip AD for Poole and Klay or something to that effect.

Thing is, Ayton can. He does decent on the perimeter, moves well and is pretty good on both ends. Doesn't have a weakness you can exploit either in terms of free throws, etc.

We've seen how overpaying Gobert works for them

Exposed on D in the playoffs and still can't shoot a fvcking basketball

Pathetic

The center still matters all that has been proven is that you doubt need a scorer there to win. There are a lot of ways to win so that's not surprising. And a lot of the centers listed do still provide run protection.
.
Also it should be noted that the main reason Anthony Davis is not a center is that he doesn't want to be called one.
