Sources: Kyrie Irving has requested and received permission from the Nets to find sign-and-trade offers from other teams. Kevin Durant still hasn't spoken to Nets front office. Russell Westbrook to Brooklyn remains unlikely. More for

The problem is that he's going to have to find a team that's willing to give him the deal that he wants that can also match his salary in a S&T that the Nets are willing to accept, and are there any?
If Durant demands a trade, maybe... just maybe they will accept Westbrook's expiring... maybe. But that's such a shitty deal for the Nets because the Lakers have nothing to offer.
I dunno... but nobody can accuse Kyrie of not keeping thing interesting... lmao.
What team is giving up legit pieces to get Irving? I mean, there probably is someone... but nothing jumping out at me. And I don't feel like studying salaries enough league wide right now to figure it out.

Basically he needs to find a team that is willing to S&T, so the nets allowed him to do so

I actually predicted this in that other thread. They are giving him the green light to find a SNT deal. Then reality will slap him in the face.

As long as they are looking themselves it’s fine. If they are telling him to go look out of spite and not doing their own work it’s a bad look all around.

BTW, I don't think that even if the Lakers somehow get Irving that the trio of old LeBron, Kyrie & Davis is enough to get it done. The rest of the roster is just absolute hot ****ing garbage. I mean damn, clearly the best big 3 in the league as long as LeBron doesn't finally really drop off hard but holy shit where's the defense coming from? Where's the depth?

Haha, I forgot the Nets have Simmons. Forget about Westbrook completely even with KD possibly departing. It would have to be a three team trade at a minimum to flip Westbrook for Kyrie.

Kyrie will take the MLE and Lebron/Klutch will pay him under the table/get him a new Nike contract.

Bad look is the wrong choice of words. Nobody on the outside would know if they are looking for a deal or not. It would just be bad business if they aren't doing their own DD.
My guess is that they believe there isn't a good deal to be had and that's why they are telling Kyrie to shop himself. Then Kyrie will realize that a lot of teams flat out dont want him.

Read that Stein said it's a possibility he could opt out, become a UFA and sign a 1yr MLE deal for 6.3mil. That's the most LA could offer without needing to reconstruct the current roster. Then sign a longer deal the following season.
Not a big possibility, but still one.

If Durant tells them, "I will play with ______" and the team with "_____" would rather have Kyrie Irving then a deal can be made. Unfortunate;y KD doesn't want to play with Westbrook, so fill in the blank but the answer is probably going to be "no."

Probably a bigger chance with Kyrie than pretty much any player ever. Hell, he could probably be convinced that he'll make more money in the long run getting to LA and playing well...and that might be right.
Would make for just about the most insane regular season viewing if the Lakers just get him and add him to the roster.

Not a big possibility, but still one.Yeah he's not doing that as crazy as he may seem he still wants his money. Thats why he's requesting a trade to see if he can find a team that will max him. I won't say it's impossible because as a player he's worth it but most teams wouldn't do it at this point.

They are not accepting Wetbrick's expiring, that's delusional. Rockets have all their picks until 2027. They can't even tank properly for the next half decade.

If Durant is demanding a trade with Irving's departure, who also apparently might walk for nothing, is it really all that delusional? The only oversight I made in that post was the fact that Simmons is on the roster... that alone makes the Westbrook conversation a non starter. Talk about the dumbest fit in the whole ****ing league. Westbrook and Simmons, lmfao. Imagine.
Anyways...
There are rumors that the Nets actually are just tired of Kyrie period and are ok with him walking.

Kyrie / LeBron / AD / Malik Monk + some defensive center
Nunn / Stanley Johnson / OTher white guy.
Dump Westbrook for a wing or 2 to Charlotte. That's enough to build a team.
Might not be as good as the 2020 Lakers, but enough to compete for sure.

It's not a rumor anymore. Tsai won't give Kyrie the max, Kyrie either wants the max or is out. Kyrie told the Nets yesterday that he's out.
Nets have until Wednesday to do a trade, and no team wants Kyrie except the Lakers.
So Kyrie will end up opting out and signing MLE with Lakers.

To be truthful, I think Lakers would be better off if Kyrie scored 25ppg / AD 25ppg and BRAN lowers it down to 20-22 ppg and gets 10 assists.
I'm not sure 30ppg Bron is optimal here for 38 year old Bran.

Lyrie gave a speech at TD telling Boston that he's resigning as long as they extend him, and then immediately left. Then he said less than 6 months ago that there's no way he's leaving 7 at Brooklyn. Lost 17 million due to vaccine mandates. It looks like Nike is also dropping him.
Is there a bigger dipshit in NBA history?

So if he turns down his option he just takes the exception to join the Lakers?
I bet Lebron and Maverick would finance Uncle Drew 2 through their studio to sweeten the deal.

Yup.
The guy is utterly unsufferable, plain and simple.
I probably wouldnt even watch or root for the Lakers next year if he ends up with them. He's just such a mood killer. He'll do something to undermine the coach, or even worse - the King - or try to embarrass the organization that's paying him, or whatever childish, pain-fueled drama he might engage in.
Wouldnt be interested in rooting for a team with him on it.
I'm sure most Laker fans wouldnt care. But I'd take a pass.

Yea...I think LA is actually the smart play to be honest.
He's essentially losing 30 million for 1 year...he can make that up and more, with ease, if he were to go to the Lakers and play well. The Lakers would pay him as much as they could if he gives them 1 good year.

He told the Nets, either give him the max for 5 years or trade him. Nets only wanted to give him a 3 year deal.
He doesn't want to be with a team that he feels is not "respecting" him.

Next year's team is going to have 6 potential first ballot HOFers. Better make the Playoffs at the very least. That '04 squad was injured and still got to the Finals.

Harden leaving the Nets was totally valid, and I wouldn't blame KD for leaving either.
We all know Kyrie is a great player, but there's no denying how cancerous the dude is. Wherever he goes next, the team should prepare trade ideas right away for his upcoming inevitable departure after 2-3 years.
