Tomorow Rockets and Magic are playing each other. That game might give some insights.

Where was this thread pre draft?

Where was this thread even before the first summer league game?

What a ****ing loser.

"HURR DURR I KNEW ALL ALONG!! SOOO OBVIOUS I DIDNT SAY ANYTHING!!! HURR DURR"

****ing loser.

BTW, it wouldn't surprise me if the Magic completely ****ed it up seeing as how incompetent they are as an organization because of ownership, but either way, they're not quite as incompetent as you.

It's a summer league game. It won't mean shit. Let's see what happens in the next 4 years. Unless some of them are huge busts right out of the gate, we won't know exactly how this is going to go for another 5 years tbh.

Almost every organization league wide gets the draft wrong almost every year.

There have been less than a handful of guys in league history with whom practically everyone knew they'd turn out as really great players.

LeBron & Shaq are basically the only two can't miss prospects in my entire lifetime that everyone saw coming as the clear cut #1 in the draft.

In fact, I seem to remember everyone in the room having a Shaq jersey ready with their team DURING THE LOTTERY ITSELF. And I think it might have been similar for LeBron. I can't remember any other players being that obvious where everyone knew.

Nothing in this draft is 1000% obvious. Hindsight is easy to judge.

It might have happened other times but these are the only two I remember. Gordan Gund make a joke about not knowing who they were going to pick only to then hold this jersey up minutes later.

Well he did withhold his medical records from them and also bailed early on his workout. He didnt wanna go there and he let them know it. Doesnt mean they couldnt still pick him, but it woulda been kinda awkward. Cant really blame them for goin with the next guy.

Also he may well turn out to be great, but lets pump the brakes on summer league proclamations.

I think Chet is too tall for basketball. He can be very good but will he stay healthy?

How could I have made a "Orlando screwed up" before the draft you troglodyte???

I've been saying Chet should have been the #1 pick for a while

Show me where you say Orlando screwed up before last night and more than that show me where you said Chet will be the runaway best player in the class before last night, then I'll apologize.

Op’s franchise picked two point guards before Steph Curry

11 pts, 3 of 11 shooting.

Absolutely bullied. I guess he's trash. Oh wait, I'm not going to give some stupidly over reactionary take like that off of one play or one game.

Keep being you though, OP.

Yep. Jared Bayless averaged 30 ppg in summer league. Anthony Randolph had some monster 40+ games where he was unstoppable. Summer league is not the NBA. People need to slow up on the hype. No one truly knows what he is going to do. Everyone is taking shots in the dark right now when evaluating him. We are going to have to wait and see until the real show.

Chet was thoroughly dominated and wet the bed in his 2nd game - he's a liability on defense in a lot of 1-on-1 matchups and won't be playable a lot of the time.. Good 1st game tho

Throughout my many years of being an NBA fan, I've learned to never judge how a player will do in the NBA based off of their summer league performance, no matter how good or bad they play.

Take LeBron for example. In the summer league he shot only 37% from the field and less than 20% from 3. You can say he turned out to be pretty good

Yeah.....no they didn’t lol. Last night was yet another example why you can’t draw conclusions based on summer league. OP has proven to be an idiot though so this is expected.

There's not a lot of Kenny Lofton type players in the league (6'6" 280), and outside of a heave three, Lofton was 16 points on 16 shots. Chet might get bullied on individual possessions, but it's a gamble to base your gameplan around attacking a guy that long on the defensive end. Lofton ended up shooting pretty inefficiently, turning the ball over a lot, and getting in foul trouble on the perimeter. Even missing a bunch of shots, Chet impacted the game with help defense. His help D might be so good that the best strategy will be to attack him straight up :confusedshrug:

I said it in the other thread - everything Banchero put on tape at Duke has transitioned so far in to summer league without a glitch. 3 level scorer, can score from the post, great footwork, can initiate the offense or play off-ball, good vision and passer, etc. He just has a good feel for the game especially offensively. He has the size, strength, athleticism and recovery ability to develop in to a good defender so not really concerned about the knock on his defensive evaluation from his college tape. He flashed some of that last night as well.

Exploiting a weakness is a gamble?

If you can't stop my guy, I'm going at you every time. There's no gamble to it. Your coach will have to make an adjustment one way or another.

Athletic big men usually do very well in summer league, Andre Drummond was a beast in summer league.

Seems different with wings and ball handlers.

If someone is long then he has to be a good defender i guess.
