View Full Version : Steph trying to recruit KD

Ric Bucher is reporting that Steph Curry has reached out to KD several times about a reunion: “A league source says Curry has reached out several times to Durant, eager to improve his chances of winning a fifth championship and surpassing LeBron James.

Ric has absolutely zero ties at the Bay even though he worked (and got fired) from there. Steph already gave an interview and you can make the breadcrumbs yourself in terms of whose pushing for this move and whose not.

This is standard practice in this pu$sy ass league. It's been this way for over a decade.

It's not even worth questioning. There's no way KD agrees to go back.

Why does KD have to agree to anything? He is under contract for another 4 years and does not have a no trade clause.
You think he will sit at home after being traded to GS? He will play.

**** it, just do it. I wouldn't even be mad at this point. A healthy Bucks or Celtics squad against the Warriors with KD? Warriors probably still win, but it wouldn't go down like the 2017-18 Finals did.

Wiggins and Simmons cant be on the same team. Dumb rule but you can’t have two rookie supermax players at once. Would have to be a 3 team deal.
Same reason they can’t trade Bam and Herro for KD. Bam can’t play with Simmons.

I never understood why Curry and Draymond caught zero flack for begging Durant to go and play for them.
There’s nothing you can put past them. I hope it goes through though. Durant is a dumb cancer and he’s really old with a lot of miles.
Younger hungrier players will be shitting on him in the playoffs until he retires.

The pitch to KD was something like
without you, we can win 1 or 2 more, without us you might win.. with all of us together, we'll win a ton.
Sorry Skip but there was no begging, just reality. Dray didn't catch flak because he's an elite role player. Curry caught plenty of flak, all the morons in the NBA world somehow put KD above of Curry despite the reality being quite different after the trade. Despite Curry being clearly significantly better both of the previous seasons, more successful and ouplaying KD the previous postseason. It's only until this year that it stopped after the postseason was done, for obvious reasons.

Yeah, it will obv help long term when he has 4 rangz on his resume, but at the time you could argue KD going there didn't help Curry's legacy at all. He lost out on FMVP for both titles, a lot of people considered KD the better player, and despite the ridiculous success they achieved before he got there, a narrative began that the Warriors needed KD to win those championships.
So this years title was as resounding a silencer for the doubters as a player could have. Won another title, finally won FMVP, and did so destroying the team KD was terrible against while getting swept in the first round.

People thinking Durant was better had nothing to do with flak for wanting Durant, it was Durant putting up better stats basically every playoff run.
Flak is realizing Curry’s sense of competitiveness is just shit for wanting an adversary you beat. No one puts it in those terms.

Some people sound like they have zero common sense when I see things like Curry caught no flak. In the first 18 months when KD went, people were saying it's KD's team. Plenty in the media even had the audacity to say KD who has zero leadership qualities, was the defacto leader of the team. I remember a journo complaining that the Warrior fans were chanting MVP for Curry when he shot FTs in one game, as in how could they do that with KD there? That was an ESPN segment in 2018 at the time.

Wrong. Everyone in the media universally put KD as the best player on the team the summer the trade happened. They basically changed the script and talked about the best player on the team before he ever laced them. And people have given both KD and Curry shit for joining each other instead of going against each other. You have no self awareness because you just did it, saying he went to beg him to join. When the entire pitch was we can win without you, but we'll win more with you.
And even when we saw how the team was over the years with Curry and no KD and vice versa, it was essentially blasphemy to suggest Curry was the better player even though.. he was.

Was that sexy passive aggressive pitch really what they threw at KD? Really? We don’t really ****ing need you. Really?
And stop trying so hard to win something. Lol. I just quickly looked up two player rankings before the 17 season, that used hundreds of media members to compile it and Curry is over Durant in both.

I literally can’t even find a ranking putting Durant over him.
Not that I would give a **** anyway because what you are blathering about has nothing to do with what I said.
Believing Curry got even close to as much criticism as Durant for his move is just being retarded and delusional like every post I have ever seen you make involving Curry.

Curry's a great leader. As is Draymond. They both made KD feel as comfortable as possible in Oakland. And Curry especially sacrificed a lot. They both also have that all important social intelligence required to be a leader. KD doesn't have that. It's why teams where he has to be the leader feel rudderless.

Nobody can be a perfect leader because each situation requires a different leadership style and they often involve diametrically opposed qualities. Curry's lack of ego can be a good and bad thing. This is where Draymond comes in. He can be the loud, vocal, assertive leader. Curry's more of the gracious, puts you in a position to succeed leader. Regardless they both have the one thing in common that KD lacks: social intelligence and understanding what a group of guys need to work as a unit. To look beyond what you need to do individually.
