Didn't see a thread on this...

US announces $1.45 billion annual aid for Jordan for next five years (msn.com) (https://www.msn.com/en-ae/news/middleeast/us-announces-1-45-billion-annual-aid-to-jordan-for-next-five-years/ar-AAZDZnK)

The US (https://www.thenationalnews.com/gulf-news/saudi-arabia/2022/07/16/us-will-not-walk-away-from-the-middle-east-joe-biden-tells-gcc3/) will provide $1.45 billion of annual aid for Jordan for five years starting next year, the White House announced on Saturday. It comes as US President Joe Biden held talks with King Abdullah of Jordan in Saudi Arabia following the Jeddah Security and Development Summit.
The gathering of leaders included officials from the GCC, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, and came on the final day of Mr Biden's first tour of the region (https://www.thenationalnews.com/business/economy/2022/07/16/saudi-arabia-and-the-us-sign-13-investment-agreements-during-president-joe-bidens-visit/) since taking office.
Mr Biden visited Israel, the Occupied West Bank and Saudi Arabia to lay out Washington's vision, strategy and policies towards the Middle East.
"The United States plans to make a commitment to support the provision of no less than $1.45 billion per year in US bilateral foreign assistance to Jordan, beginning in FY 2023 and ending in FY 2029," said the statement.
The agreement will address Jordan's "extraordinary needs, supports King Abdullah II’s economic reform program and ensure the long-term strength of the close partnership between the United States and Jordan," said the statement.
The leaders discussed the historic ties between Washington and Amman, and addressed regional and international challenges.
"They noted the political and economic value of regional integration, for which Jordan can serve as an important hub for cooperation and investment in infrastructure, energy, water, food security and climate," said the statement.
King Abdullah stressed the importance of Washington's support to the kingdom’s economic reform plans, its efforts to realise more sustainable economic growth and to mitigate the impact of regional crises, the statement said.
The two leaders also reiterated "the strong defence partnerships" between them and "the commitment to their partnership in the fight against terrorism, including through cooperation within the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS and the Aqaba Process".
On the Israel-Palestine crisis they "reaffirmed their commitment to continue working for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution."
The solution stipulates that both sides will be neighbouring states with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestine.
Mr Biden and King Abdullah intend to "remain in close consultation and further develop the deep friendship between the United States and Jordan," said the statement.

Just to note, King Abdullah of Jordan is almost a billionaire himself... (I would bet significantly worth more than reported)

What a time... Americans spending record amounts due to inflation and Biden throwing billions to foreign aid.

More money for foreign nations while roads and bridges are crumbling here at home. Homeless people shitting on the streets of San Francisco and Mexican and South American immigrants are flooding the border putting a strain on Law Enforcement agencies along the border.

The things we have to do to buy & maintain partnerships and friends overseas aka our toll money. Did you know we have military bases in Jordan? Pay the toll or get tossed out. I mean we don't need those bases, but we have them. Our military will do anything to maintain them. Take it up with our military for refusing to leave all these bases everywhere. I want out of Jordan and all these bases overseas.

Trump was giving to Jordan too :facepalm

And the last place we would want to dump new money is on ourselves, that is why we have inflation issues. We are trying to remove money from circulation, not add.

There's not a single radical leftist on ISH or IRL that know the REAL reason why U.S. taxpayer dollars are sent to other countries, and sometimes for the most random of reasons. You know why they don't know? Because they are too busy repeating msnpc propganda, and posting meaningless and/or misleading graphs. That's why they are all poor IRL, they don't know how money really works. HINT: cnn and msnpc will never talk about the #1 reason why our money is sent overseas, even though it can be used as a W for the dirty democrats. But their voter base may be split on whether they accept the #1 reason, because the majority of them don't have big picture thinking.

The US has a massive military base in Cuba, and yet we dont pay them any "toll" money... and good luck to any nation that attempts to "toss out" a US military base :oldlol:

The real reason we are doing this is because they are part of our Israel/Saudi/UAE alliance, rather than the Syria/Iran/Lebanon/Russia one.

1. We were not dealing with inflation issues during Trump or prior presidencies since 01.
2. No one is saying dump money anywhere, it's reducing excessive spending/printing when inflation is at a 40 year high.

What? So then removing money from the US and putting it elsewhere helps inflation here correct? I'm confused how this move is bad during inflation?

You also have to keep in mind that $1.5B is literal pennies when talking about the US budget. Even at $50B a year in foreign aid that is less than 1% of the budget. Musk just tried to purchase Twitter for $44B, and that is one man not a 1st world nation.

Face the fact. Your issue is that the current president is Democrat and not republican. You are a partisan shill.

And if we did provide money for all this, you would be screaming, "Evil Socialism!"

Chewing complaining about roads and bridges crumbling is hilarious considering Biden just signed a $1 Trillion infrastructure bill that completely dwarfs anything spent on foreign aid. :facepalm
