Petit and Mikan were tough guys but Arizin would draw fouls or score..the guys style was just awkward as hell.

Wilt Chamberlain to completely shut down the paint and Bill Walton to work with him in tandem as two high IQ passing bigs to try and offensively dish it back out to what Embiid and Jokic bring to the table and Michael or Magic as the guard that those 3 bigs including Giannis couldn't really stay in front of.
They are playing 3 on 3 right? Half court? I feel like taking away full court really cripples Giannis' downhill style the most which is why I feel my 3 could have a pretty good shot.
You could also do Shaq and Hakeem in place of Wilt and Walton for a slightly different flavor of bigs that could have a good shot to counter Embiid and Jokic.
Another variation of bigs and IDK if I'll catch flak for this from those who may not know of how he played but Jabbar (that's a no brainer) but combined with Lanier. Lanier was elite in face-ups and quick af and also really good in the post and weighed about 290. Kareem alone might be a bit on the thin side to handle Embiid and Jokic alone but him mixed with a guy like Lanier, righty and lefty skyhooks from these guys would be a really good matchup as well I think.
Also Durant can interchangeably go in the place of MJ or Magic as well now that I think about it.

never played 3 on 3 full court but in theory you could
giannis is good steamrolling to the basket from the perimeter in half court too
i'm sure various old school bigs who were elite in their day could matchup well with the current crop
still lean towards the present big 3 but would be interested in seeing all these matchups

I just don't think Bird could stop either of those guys on defense, while McHale was a great defender in comparison and can get buckets on probably anyone in the post. I could imagine bird working with 2 of these 3 : Dream, Russell or Wilt.

Yeah, that wasnt lost on me when i posted it but only looking at primes.

yeah mchale is a hall of famer and everything but bird gives you better scoring rebounding passing outside shooting steals
3 time all defense too for bird which people may forget
you'd think the centers would guard the centers and whether it's russell/walton or any 2 of hakeem/russell/wilt bird guards giannis
unless you think russell or hakeem has a better chance against giannis and bird would get slaughtered guarding any of embiid jokic giannis
but then mchale is guarding embiid or jokic which i kind of doubt is going to work well either
but i'd still watch out of curiosity
perhaps in the distant future through the magic/horrors of science people will have that chance
i'll say this in general

if the idea is try to build a wall or half a wall to slow giannis down that goes out the window

Paint open makes Embiid the greatest primary threat. Embiid and Jokic are both huge threats but I prefer the idea of starting with the ball in Embiid's hands and Jokic being the bail out guy. Giannis would be the decoy who would get the ball on the move from the other two as he makes cuts to the basket. Giannis is far more dangerous on the move with a head of steam especially with the extra room he will have to operate.
So I earlier picked Duncan, Hakeem and KG. I'd put Hakeem on Embiid. Duncan on Jokic. KG on Giannis.
They can all defend. They can switch quite effectively. They can all move their feet. They can all shoot. They're all a face up AND post up threat. They can all pass. They can all handle bully ball. I think in scenarios like this it's more about your weakest link then it is your greatest strength. And this group does as good a job at covering all the bases as I can think of.
There are certainly other combinations of players that can compete as well.
