View Full Version : How come MJ felt he couldn't without Phil?

He's quoted as saying that he wouldn't play for anyone but Phil.

Why say that?

Why basically say that all your success is due to your coach?

Could MJ win a title with first year head coach, Lue against a 73 win team?

jordon is not the type of player who can win with two different coaches, let alone three.
His limited, scoring-based game is built to win with very specific accomplices:

1. Phil Jackson, who won 5 rings without jordon
2. The Great Scott Pippen, who did way better without jordon than jordon did without him
3. Either Rodman or Horace Grant, both of who beat jordon in a playoff series

Yep, and Lebron could not win a Gold Medal without Kobe

Its called loyalty. Nothing bad with not getting your teammates or coaches traded all the time

Stuff you know nothing about

Loyalty = quitting the league while still under contract?

When Crouse said (half way through the 98 season) that Phil wasn't coming back, MJ said he wouldn't either if that's the case.

That just proves he thought he couldn't win without Phil and also shows that his competitive spirit wasn't what people thought it was.

Jordan can't coach a team or build one. That's why.

They say LeGM and LeCoach, they never say that about Jordan.

Hey, which years did Jordan lead a stacked, super team to the lottery?

:lol

Bronies still in damage control mode...

Jordan was 35 and it takes time to build another champion from scratch

He didn't have the time and he isn't a talent-based winner like Lebron (team-hopper.. all-star team strategy)

Btw, winning with the no-dribble triangle means that Jordan would win with any offense

And Phil told MJ :

"You will not be scoring champ in this offense"

Lol, Jordan was more of the goat than Phil realized

Jordan had no longevity.

Bron joined the bottom feeding Lakers at basically 35 years old and even told Magic that Bron could wait until Magic built the team from scratch.

The Lakers were lottery in 2019 but AD made them champions in 2020 by turning their defense from worst to first and leading the team in scoring

So again, you're just a gullible Lebron fan that believes the stuff you see on cable tv

And Jordan was scoring champ + top 7 DPOY from 88-98' - that's crazy longevity of a goat standard.. it's easy to have longevity if you don't have to be a good defender (Lebron wasn't all-defense in his 30's)

Here's a better question, OP. Why couldn't Bronie make the playoffs with no less than TWO other stuperstars on his team?

Ponder this question deeply.

Phil Jackson is the GOAT coach. He was also right as a GM about Porzingis. Just look at Porzingis' stay with Luka. He should still be GM of the Knicks right now. The Lakers would also be better off with him as GM.

Kukoc, Harper and Randy Brown all had championship experience on that 1999 team. Why not give it a chance if he was the alleged ultimate competitor? That wouldn't be a challenge that he supposedly looks for ... for motivation??

You may think he could win a title in any offense, but obviously MJ didn't think that cause his mind was made up soon after Jerty said Phil wouldn't be back that he couldn't win without Phil.

Your denial is quite conical.
