Considering how quickly those guys careers started they could be threats to MJ. I don’t see it though. LeBron certainly is and Curry at least is in terms of peak play. I have MJ as the GOAT but people act like he’s untouchable and it’s annoying lol.

His level of play/resume is pretty much bulletproof, and for all the talk of rangz and nevah lost a Finals, the biggest argument for Jordan being GOAT is what you alluded too, he simply doesn't have the black marks on his resume that LeBron does. And it's not just the most notable one in 2011, he was dreadful in the '07 Finals, and had some truly terrible stretches of games against the Celtics '08 & '10.

The further removed we are from a player's era the more their career gets boiled down to accolades. Bird > Magic if we're doing a best ever list. On an accolades(like most GOAT rankings are) it should be a wash.

Totally agree, and the more time goes by = the more people make lists that never saw these players play. Magic at #2 is a joke because he was a poor defender and that is 50% of the game. Magic even admitted in his book "My Life" pages 100-101 how the zone he played at MSU did not prepare him for the NBA and he needed special coaching on defense. Magic was never selected to an all defense team his entire career. Look at any "list" and there are many players that were so much better on defense than Magic. Bird was even a better defender and IMO Bird should be a spot higher on any list. Magic also did not have a reliable outside shot early in his career. His shooting % was helped from getting wide open looks and many shots close to the basket due to double teams thrown at Kareem. To illustrate this = here are the 3 point shooting % for 3 point shots for the first 6 years for both careers for Bird and Magic. Bird was 185 of 550 for 33.63% and Magic was 29 of 164 for 17.68%. I know the 3 point line was new for the NBA in the 79-80 season, but Magic at #2 on any list , is way over rated!
