https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_4W06cZZsY First stretch 5 aka First 3 points shooting Center in NBA History. Bill is not only a dirty player, but a very skilled player. 4x NBA All Star during his prime. I think he averaged almost 18 ppg in his best statistical season. He taught Dennis Rodman on how to be a great rebounder, and playing mind games to his opponents".

Dennis Rodman said it best in his book: "Laimbeer was more than a thug, but that's what he'll be remembered for." Damn shame, because he really was a good player, and from what I've heard, a very nice guy. Good family man and does a lot of charity work.
yep
one of those other guys that gets you rings

Jordan and the Bulls were 1-3 vs. Badboys Pistons
Jordan and the Bulls were 1-3 vs. Badboys Pistons
seems pretty clear though that he was the best player in all those series

It just shows how ridiculous it is to cherry-pick certain highlight 3 point games from the 90s instead of looking at the overall career full of data to prove that a player was a good 3 point shooter.
Might as well show that 53 point game from Tony Delk in an attempt to claim that he was one of the all-time great scorers. :oldlol:
what doesn't seem to get mentioned as much is how good of a free throw shooter laimbeer was
83.7% for his career
higher than towns jokic embiid
if he practiced more and took more 3s in games it wouldn't surprise me if he would be at least an average 3 point shooter today

What's truly ridiculous is trying to argue that a game highlight package of a center making 3's is somehow cherry picking when the guy shot 33% from 3 during the non-three-point, non-big-shooting era.

Laimbeer gets underrated. All he's known for is being a goon but he was a skilled big man. Was a GREAT shooter for a big. He was also a tremendous rebounder (led the league once) and great positional defender. Not to mention, great at mind games and also a high IQ guy. He was a huge piece in those Bad Boy seasons. Isiah was the guy obviously but Laimber was his capo and 2nd hand man. Those two set the tone.

I agree! The crazy thing is Laimbeer would fit GREAT in today's game! Because he could stretch the floor from the 5 spot. Be a threat to lead the league in rebounding. And would be an elite post defender. Switching out on pick and roll shit would be a major issue for sure. But in terms of the stretch center, Laimbeer and Sikma were the 1st two centers I recall that were a true threat from 3 ball land.

He was also a known flopper. Dude would start to fall down even before contact trying to draw an offensive foul.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_4W06cZZsY He also had two tippy-toe two-pointers this game, which may be included in that video, meaning he was a hair away from eight 3-pointers in a single Finals game in 1990, which would have stood as a Finals record deep into the 2000's, if I'm not mistaken.
Even as it was, Laimbeer's six treys tied an NBA Finals record with Michael Cooper, standing until, I think, Kenny Smith first broke it in '94 or '95.

Isiah was the guy obviously but Laimber was his capo and 2nd hand man. Those two set the tone.100 percent accurate. He was incredibly cerebral, with the catch being that he didn't mind using that psychological approach to be the bad guy along the way. It seems he willingly came to terms, long ago, with the fact that he'd be okay with his legacy as a dirty player standing over time as long as it said "two-time champion" next to his name.
He was also a known flopper. Dude would start to fall down even before contact trying to draw an offensive foul. This is also 100 percent accurate. He's got some absolutely terrible flops to his name, too, ones that'd put a lot of today's flops to shame if they'd been captured with better quality video. But it was all by design. He'd sprinkle in those flops alongside a lot of legitimate wall-ups and charges drawn and it'd make for a completely miserable evening for his opponents. I mean, this dude drew 12 non-shooting fouls in one single Finals game in 1990.
