View Full Version : 3ball just claimed Kobe played better in 2000 finals than LeBron did in 2009 ECF

3Ball is a Kobe stan that is struggling to cope with the fact that the player he hates - LeBron - has taken over Kobe's team and subjugated all of Lakers nation that used to (still do) hate him. It was the ultimate boss move by The King.

3Ball and every other Lakers fan like 3Ball was conquered by LeBron. That's their struggle.

Clutch PPG (last 5 within 5)

00' Kobe Finals..... 8.0 on 60%.. 0.3 tov.. took over OT game
09' Lebron ECF...... 5.8 on 56%.. 1.2 tov.. ragdolled in OT game

* Lebron lost 3 fourth quarter leads in series

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/clutch-traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=1999-00&SeasonType=Playoffs&PORound=4

The clutch numbers speak for themselves.

Both series were decided on a few clutch possessions - Kobe personally won those possessions so the Lakers won, while Lebron personally lost those possessions, so the Cavs lost as a historic favorite.

That's the historical record - Lebron didn't learn how to perform under pressure until Wade taught him in Miami.. Again, that's the historical record.

Heck, Lebron turned the ball over 1.2 times in the clutch versus 0.8 assists - that's like getting 8 assists in a game and 12 turnovers.. This is literally what happened

Spamming doesn’t refute what I said. Perhaps you’re too stupid to realize it but the only reason the Lakers needed “clutch time” was because Kobe was playing horribly. 15.6 PPG on 41.1% TS is probably the worst finals line ever for an ATG.

Go back and watch the critical Game 4 OT that decided the 09' ECF....

lebron wet the bed and was RAGDOLLED by dwight (a non-top-75 player)

Now go watch the OT game from the 00' Finals that swung the series and prevented a Game 7

KOBE was the ragdoller (in historic, legendary fashion)

LeBron literally sent that game to OT with last second free throws that’s the definition of clutch. He also put up 44 points on 59.6%. Your standards for LeBron are “flawless or he sucks” while your standards for Kobe are “hit a few shots and you’re amazing even if you play like the worst player ever the rest of the game”, it’s clear who you think is better :yaohappy:

LeBron was tired from carrying a bunch of scrubs nonstop and Kobe had lots of energy because he just sat there doing nothing most of the game while Shaq dominated. How are you this stupid?

Lebron can't carry the scoring load with sufficient brand to beat Finals teams (too ball-dominant), so he needs all-time scorers and elite 1st options at sidekick to nearly match his scoring against Finals teams.

Otoh, guys that can play off-ball like Kobe, Curry or MJ can carry the scoring load with sufficient brand to beat Finals teams, so they can win with secondary producers at sidekick like Wiggins, Pippen or Pau

No way dude. This is what Lebron does. His career is replete with examples of disappearing in the last 5 minutes of games and OT.

It's the same thing as him not knowing they had a TO remaining in game 1 of the NBA Finals which allowed the whole J.R. Smith fiasco to occur. And to top that off he threw in the towel in OT.

It's in Lebron's DNA to disappear.

Kobe scored 8 ppg in the clutch, which was more than half his average - so he literally let Shaq dominate for 40 minutes and then turned into Jordan for clutch-time

His goat clutch in that series and for those playoffs is literally goat-level - therefore he didn't play "bad" in that series

Otoh, Lebron usually wet the bed in clutch-time with low-scoring, horrific efficiency and kindergarten-level turnover MACHINE (12 TO's per game pace in clutch-time of 09' ECF).

He's 0-10 on clutch shots in the Finals (tie or go-ahead in last 24 seconds).

I guess it's fair to say that Lebron becomes Westbrook in clutch-time - the stats don't lie.. This negates any gaudy stats that he might out up.

Kobe was a 2nd option, so it isn't that horrific

So you can't compare Pippen's 15 on 34% to Kobe's.. Night and day.. Kobe required game-planning - he wasn't just a transition/hustler that wasn't on the scouting report (https://i.makeagif.com/media/3-27-2022/qrDm8n.gif) like Pippen.

1st options are REQUIRED to come thru in the clutch

Lebron failed this duty, which negates his gaudy stat-padding style and stats

Otoh, Kobe had no requirements as 2nd option.. Yet he still came through like Jordan in clutch-time - so Kobe is vastly exceeding his role as 2nd option, while Lebron fails his mandatory obligation as 1st option to close
