I watched the highlights of the game last night. It was something like 11 or 12 minutes. Murray definitely took it personally acting like a butthole most of the night, but it was funny. Also, his team kept double teaming Paolo as if it was game 7 of the finals. If you ask me, despite the results of the game, Paolo came out looking better.

Nah, pro ams and twitter beefs dont count as rivalries.

Lemme know when some friction pops off during a game that counts for something.

THEN we'll have a rivalry.

Hmmm, that is not what I saw. Paulo is 6'10 Dejounte's team didn't have any bigs to play him one on one in the post.

I wasn't the only one who saw it. Paolo called it out himself on his Instagram. When he was forced to guard him 1 on 1 on the perimeter Paolo cooked him (@ 8:28).

Meanwhile Murray showed more of his punk mentality in other games:

I guess when you're only capable of barely getting your team to the play-in tournament you gotta boost your ego by clowning little white high schoolers, 9-5 burger flippers, and a rookie who's yet to even play a preseason game. :lol

That’s often how it goes. Especially the super competitive types. Bird, Jordan, Kobe, KG and so on? All talked shit the minute you became competitors. Larry Bird literally kicked a ball over Jordan’s head the first time they met:

. “Rumblings about a new prodigy were heard in the NBA underground in the summer of 1984 when Olympian Jordan began embarrassing a collection of All-Star (albeit out-of-shape) pros in a series of exhibition games,” Wrote Curry KirkPatrick of Sports Illustrated (https://vault.si.com/vault/1987/11/09/in-an-orbit-all-his-own-whether-hes-pouring-in-points-or-putting-together-business-deals-high-flying-michael-jordan-of-the-chicago-bulls-is-out-of-this-world). “During the pregame warmup one night in Indianapolis, an Olympic team ball bounced to the pros’ end of the floor. Jordan chased after it.
“Larry Bird picked it up. Instead of handing the ball to Jordan, Bird sneered and kicked it back over Jordan’s head. My world and welcome to it. ‘Bird was showing me it was all business now, and I was beneath him,” says Jordan. “I didn’t forget.’

If they are frazzled over that little interaction imagine these guys going up against KG. He’d have them crying and writing novels on IG

Yeah, I dont have a problem with the shit talking and flexing on the younger guys (just be ready to back it up) but for me - maybe this is a generational thing - when you go on Twitter and write some goofy, long winded explanation of it, it kinda takes the wind out of the sails. Like having to explain a joke. Just sort of negates the energy.

Once you take it to Twitter and start dropping cringey philosophical cliches "U goTs to Be HumBLe! Neva 4get whErE u c@me FroM! :pimp:" it looks contrived and like youre doing it to impress the twitterverse instead of some real, spontaneous heat from competition.

Just... leave the jawing and flexing on the court, IMO.

But maybe that's just me becoming an old man.

I mean I think if you follow a grown man you dont know on “IG” you sorta forfeit the right to calling him cringe tho.

I'm with you 100% on this. I'm not a social media guy though, so maybe that's it. Social media emotionally escalates situations without contributing to resolving them.

Dejounte Murray isn’t exactly in the same class as Jordan, bird, Kobe and KG.

Those same type of guys are working at Publix and playing a little ball on the weekend. It’s a personality trait not something that comes with a minimum skill level. Besides they all had it before they became who they are remembered as. KG came up in Mauldin where I live now. He was a maniac even then. And Kobe was talking wild at 18 according to people around the lakers. Neither was as good as Murray is now when their psycho competitor became known. It’s just how some people are.
