I love when people do this because it's clear they just want to ignore Pettit, Mikan and Wilt

I get annoyed with how the NBA has a cut-off point for most records starting from 1977 in an attempt to ignore older players such as Pettit, Mikan and Wilt so they can prop up today's players

Petit, Mikan and Wilt would demolish some of these dudes if advance stats were tracked from the very beginning

It's not an attempt to discredit anyone. The league didn't record a lot of statistics before 1977 so what are we supposed to do? Turnovers, for example, are a factor in a lot of these statistics and we just don't have that data from before 1977. Blocks, steals, offensive rebounds vs defensive rebounds, three point percentage... Games started wasn't tracked either.
