2022 - Stephen Curry
2021 - Giannis Antetokounmpo
How about this year? Finally a bit interesting. Lebron and Davis are neck and neck.

They are pretty close statistically aside from Bron averaging a near triple double, but I'd give it to Lebron the Fmvp pushes him past in a close one.
LeBeast, AD only played that well because LeBron was spoon feeding him

I'm really not. I'm just posting the numbers so people don't have look them up.
I see them as co-MVP's. Both were equally important to the Lakers' title. Similar to Magic/Kareem in 1985 where I also can't choose. Curry/Durant is also super close in 2017 and 2018 IMO.

I've seen enough, it's AD when you consider he was the defensive anchor and rim protector.
Bron fam meltdowns incoming.

About as close at it gets statistically.
I'd probably give it to Lebron because he was the leader.

This is as contested a choice between two teammates as we might see the rest of the countdown. I'm giving LeBron the very slight nod over AD for his playmaking and leadership, while being the clear best player between the two in the Finals. But if there were ever a year for co-MVP's, this would be it.

For anyone with a brain its LeBron.

AD's 2020 playoff run is better than a lot of alpha dog title runs in many other years. Crazy how dominant he was.
And it must be KILLING Bron fans how close this argument is. :lebroncry:

LeBron at age 35 blew away MJ at that same age if you look at what they did in the Finals/playoffs. MJ would have been LeBron's sidekick as well.

To say Davis is neck and neck with Lebron isn't even a diss on Lebron. In 2020, Lebron had an amazing playoff run but Davis was simply that good too. For example Davis in 2020 was much better stats and impact-wise than someone like Dirk in 2011. Obviously Dirk was the sole offensive star and had to face a lot more defensive attention so it's not that simple but Davis' 28/10/3 on +10 rTS is historic offensive production. And then he was a DPOY level defensive presence.
Lebron does have the intangibles like experience and leadership.

I think when you consider this on top of the fact that he was the teams true PG that year, I think that ever so slightly leans things to his favor.

Anthony Davis. He lead the playoffs in scoring and had great efficiency. He was basically Kareem level.

Brain Stains fuming that Lebron can't win them all :lebroncry: But you have to give it up to AD. This was peak AD and sadly I don't know if we will see a performance like that from him again. His offensive repertoire was on full display, even hitting clutch shots. But we all know defense wins championships and he was the anchor of one of the best defensive Laker teams of all time. Playoff MVP goes to AD

OP, who was 2014 playoffs MVP to you?
Most likely Lebron even though he didn't have a great finals. Durant had a subpar postseason and no one on the Spurs was a true star at that point.
the mvp could get knocked out in the first round every year
or get injured before the finals
or not even make the playoffs
but probably every year
someone from the team that won the championship
or maybe on a rare occasion was on the losing team in the finals
will be picked anyway
not because it makes a lot of sense
but because it fits the traditional way of thinking
where guys get a lot of credit for being the best player on the best team or whatever
which is the same thinking that leads to people saying booker should've been regular season mvp
or that tatum and curry were conference finals mvp over butler and doncic
or that russell was mvp when wilt averaged 50ppg
and so on and so forth seemingly endlessly
then op will post a million stats in this thread
with no stats in the other 2 threads
and then say the stats are poor
when really they are not perfect but not poor
long story short
whatever

Yea Lebron's got this one and I think if I had to choose one gun to my head I'd go with Lebron > Davis because of experience and leadership. He was the old veteran and knew what it takes to win. Lebron wins the vote even though, as SouBeachTalents said, this is as close to a co-MVP year as we're gonna get.

This is close between AD - Lebron here I give slight edge to Lebron here for leadership, experience, etc. AD had an amazing run in the 2020 NBA playoffs.

Clearly AD. He outplayed Lebron in every series except the finals against Miami.
It's really not that close when you factor in AD's defensive impact, which was waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy more than Lebron's.

Shocker.
Offensively they were close, even though AD had slightly better stats. Defensively it wasn't even a contest impact-wise. Do you dispute that?

No AD certainly led the defense. Although Bron played at a level that he doesn't normally anymore.
Lebron certainly led the offense. He did a lot of things outside of the stat sheet there as well, including getting AD the ball where he needed. It wasn't just give AD the ball and get out of the way. They played a very tight offensive game and Lebron was the leader.
Like it has previously been stated, it's very close.
