I've seen people including Ben Taylor make a case for Curry but pretty sure I'm going with Kawhi.

The only players I see doing that are LeBron, Jordan & Kareem. But yeah, the flaw with this project is the vast majority of years are going to be painfully predictable. The selections from 91-03 will all be unanimous.

Wilt might be able to take a year or two from Russell as well.

But yea we might skip those unanimous years. 2001 I could see a case for Kobe. He was better than Shaq against the Spurs who were the Lakers' best opponent. The WCF was the real finals. And against Portland and Sacramento, Kobe was roughly as good as Shaq as well.

But really only obvious on a philosophical level. Meaning rINgz.

As far as who actually played the best, it was Butler in 2022. 2019 saw a ridiculous defensive peak from Embiid, two-round craziness from Harden, Durant, and Jokic, and then the obvious Kawhi and Curry additions.

Draymond didn’t have a bad series as well and was the best player in a series with Harden, Durant, and Curry, IMO. and Kawhi was a negative on defense limping around by the time the finals started. It was a crazy playoff run overall. Looking at basically just the finals does it disservice, philosophically of course.
