It's not even the Eagles's best song.

But doesn't matter where you go, odds are, you're going to hear it playing somewhere. And even better odds, you're probably going to be standing next to someone who's signing right along to it. A more frustrating thing I cannot imagine.

Good song, but overplayed for sure.

Speaking of old songs, I heard a remake of "Tiny Dancer" on the radio the other day. Looked it up and it's a remake by Elton John & Britney Spears and currently a huge hit. :lol

Nah it's not. It's well written. Outside the then prevalent chord progressions for songs that got as much airplay. The twin lead solo is using modilations etcetc. It's better than 90% of rocksongs out there compositionwise, but it's so damn overplayed and composition only does so much when people don't like the timbre of what the Eagles have to offer and I'm one of them. I simply don't like the Eagles, but I can, if in the right mood, enjoy some of their songs.

I hate to say this as a Beatles fan, but if we're keeping it strictly to classic rock songs, Imagine by John Lennon is legitimately the most overrated song I've ever heard. It's decent at best and has a pretentious message.

It wouldn't be as hypocritical if Lennon wasn't a serial wifebeater. McCartney >>> Lennon. Band on the run is easily the best postbeatles Beatles Album by any of them with All things must pass being 2nd. Lennon's solo work as a whole is massively overrated and relies on a few songs, but his albums, especially his neurotic need to incorporate his weird wife, were just bad.

I think he needed Macca much more to keep his ego in check than the other way round. Just like Brian Wolson did. Lennon was definately the more experimental songwriter in the Beatles, but he couldn't transition that into his solo career.

Any song with that guitar solo can get played over and over and over again

I'll attack this another way.

Top 5 songs on any iteration of Rolling Stones' 500...

1. Blowin' in the Wind
2. The Times They Are A-Changin'
3. Life on Mars?
4. California Dreamin'
5. Gimme Shelter

HM: Sunshine of Your Love; Wouldn't it Be Nice; Brown Eyed Girl

Yes, Hotel California is overrated. Most overrated? I don't know, there's some dross on those lists.

The Beatles are one of the top bands of all time, but some of their fans think that anything they played, is automatically a classic and deserves to be considered one of the best songs of all time. But something like Penny Lane is just a throwaway song, and would have been instantly forgotten if any other band had recorded it

Hell no.

Maybe its slightly overrated within its genre, but its a good song and an absolute classic.

Consider for a minute what "all-time" means. For example, today in our current time, half of the most popular songs these days are effeminate teen boys with face tattoos mumbling about how much they love xanax, the other half are "songs" sung by hyper sexualized broads who sound like they have been chain smoking for the past 30 years ... compared to "popular" music today, hotel california would be one of the most underrated songs of all time.

If a modern band made Yellow Submarine it would have been laughed off social media and all platforms unless it became a meme. By people that have never taken acid and have an IQ as low as Nanners btw. Music opinions are worthless from people who don't know anything about making music.

Like it or don't. The rest doesn't matter. It's all bullshit. People don't even value music as much as they pretend to.

For the record, people who have IQ as high as mine only listen to the absolute highest quality music, the kind of music that governments collude to hide from their general populace (because they are terrified of the spiritual awakening that could result from their people hearing such sweet and pure melodies and piercingly intelligent lyrics)

Looking at Rolling Stones most recent 500 greatest songs list, Hotel California didn't even crack the top 300. I still contend Imagine is the most overrated song of all time, which checked in on that list at 19. The other songs I'd add in contention for that title are I Will Always Love You & Rolling in the Deep.

"Yeah" by Usher

The song was a huge smash hit because Usher was in the middle of his peak run and Lil' Jon was the man of the hour. As we speak the song has 835 million views on YouTube.

Meanwhile I legit think it's in the running for worst beat of all time. I have never EVER been in the mood to hear this song.
