You signed a contract with an American team making millions. Take Danilo Gallinari. Signed with the Celtics this summer and just tore his acl. He’s not going to play one game for the Celtics. :biggums: I don’t think they should be allowed to play internationally unless it’s the Olympics. This could have been Jokic or Giannis

World's and Euro championship means more than the olympics for many

They have a contractual agreement with American teams. If they get injured outside of the nba their contract should get voided

Should NBA players be allowed to play basketball period? Think about it. They might risk injury by playing basketball

Its the same for all professional athletes, including basketball players in Europe as well, and of course soccer players, who in some cases are paid even more than NBA stars.

Joining your national team is not mandatory, noone can force Giannis or Jokic to play, but at some point they become big enough to decide themselves. Meanwhile, Jovic and Pokusevski will not play simply because the heat and OKC did not allow them.

When you have professionals getting season ending injuries in amateur summer leagues (Holmgren), you cant complain about international players competing in professional tournaments

At the end of the day, I dont think LeBron should be allowed to because he’s too valuable to the league as a whole and things of that nature. But everyone else, I dont really care.

It's a tough question that I don't have an answer for. Are teams supposed to keep players in bubblewrap inside a room filled with pillows until the season starts? I tend to learn towards if it happens it happens and that is life.

Whether they should or not depends on the negotiations between the NBA and the NBPA.
