Imagine if 90% of whites went for the GOP.
I don't know what could cause this...maybe nothing being done about the Southern border for another decade will.
I'm not saying it's very likely, but it's surely possible that eventually 80% of whites will end up voting Republican within a couple decades. Around 90% of blacks vote Democrat. With Hispanics, it's around 75%.
If that ends up happening, the divisions are going to become a lot worse. The central issue won't be ideology or economics anymore, but race, with 90% of whites voting GOP and 90% of minorities voting Dem. There will be a few people in the middle like everyone else but it won't be much.
Can a country in which two parties are supported overwhelmingly on racial lines exist indefinitely as a stable polity? Or will it eventually degenerate into some form of civil unrest and conflict?
In my view, I don't think a country like this would be worth living in. I would say if this is the direction the country's headed in, it's probably best to just abolish the two-party system in some form - probably by merging the organizational structure of the two parties, so as to prevent this outcome of two parties divided on lines of race, locked into bitter political and demographic conflict.
