Luka going at a double team and hitting a shotclock beating 3 point floater over Gobert was one of the most ridiculous plays I've seen in a while

Hes next in that Pistol Pete-Bird-Kobe lineage of outlandish shit seeming common because of an unusual skill and balls combination.

Reminder that Slovenia is a country of 2 million people and France is 70 million.

I feel like I read that France had the second most international nba players after Canada but I’m not sure. It may have been time period specific. No I found myself wondering what happened to Rodricq Beaubois or whatever his name was on the mavs.

I’m also wondering how many nba players Yugoslavia would have if it didn’t become 3-4 smaller countries. They used to have an insane national team but I don’t think all those guys(Vlade, Kukoc, Drazen, Dino and a couple other nba guys) would be considered from the same country anymore.

They would have enough NBA players that they would be cutting some, plus they would have Micic who is better than some of the NBA guys.

Just off the top of my head:

Luka
Jokic
Bogdanovic
Bogdanovic
Saric
Vucivic
Nurkic
Dragic
Bjelica
Zizic
Zubac
Cancar

They would be cutting guys like Mario Hezonja, Dzanan Musa, Dragan Bender and Boban Marjanovic. Cedi Osman would be eligible to play for them. Deni Avdija too probably. Apparently the Bulls have a backup center from Montenegro that I've never even heard of (Marko Simonovic)

The former Yugoslavia (South Slavs) produces more top basketball players per-capita than any other group of people besides African Americans (imo).

Guards lighting him up, as per usual

Then all he can do is the occasional dunk, if its spoon fed to him

Pathetic

Those Rudy/Deandre/Chandler types absolutely do dunk a lot. Deandre has a couple thousand. 3rd this century behind Shaq and Dwight. The “dunker” position as I’ve heard it called by nba people who mentioned that teams want 4 skill guys and a dunker. We need a “Garbage man” award with a trophy of Oscar the Grouch for the most spoonfed dunks a season. Rudy and Deandre would have like 6 each to go with the field goal percentage records obtained by not doing anything with the ball but catching lobs because the coaching staff knows you can’t.

Deandre came through with 3 straight 70% seasons and Rudy finally got there last year. I bet Capela has one too. Let that position develop a few more years we will have some Stromile Swift type have 80% shooting and 500 dunks while not being able to score on Earl Boykins given the ball.

Rudy actually pretty good in this eurobasket, today u can say he won the game against Turkey

I’d imagine he’d be very effective internationally. True zone alone would ensure he made a difference.

The EuroBasket 2022 Round of 16 started with an amazing game in Berlin, as France managed to survive against Turkey and get the 87-86 overtime win. Rudy Gobert was the MVP of the game, with an impressive display under the basket: 20 points and 17 rebounds for the French center (https://www.eurohoops.net/en/eurobasket/1388921/turkey-france-eurobasket-2022/).

Of course he makes a difference. And of course he makes a bigger one without arbitrary rules on where he can stand.
