Ben Wallace's defensive peak was the best one.
4 DPOYs in a span of 5 years. And the one DPOY he missed in those 5 years (right in the middle) was probably his most deserving season of a DPOY. Had the best defensive rating season in history, then followed by the best defensive rating in a playoff run as well as most defensive win shares in a playoff run, which ended up in a championship, where he also was screwed out of a Finals MVP.
The Indiana Pacers propaganda staff sure did a mighty fine job when they promoted Ron Artest for DPOY successfully that season.
Dennis Rodman had significantly better career defensive book-ends than Big Ben though.

For sure Cooper is 10th and Smart is 11th. Small perimeter players just cannot compare to bigs defensively.

Cooper was 6'6. Not small. Had to be very long I imagine too though they didn't mention those things at the time

He was 6'5. Looked taller because he was a stick, only 170 pounds which is unheard of today.
