I’m hoping/assuming you are trolling but you have to know there are many benefits to HOA’s that make it well worth the monthly fee. What I pay monthly now for landscaping in spring/summer/fall is more than what my HOA was when I lived in a townhouse. Also, if you are in your 50’s-60’s, you think you’d rather do all the outside maintenance yourself, like snow plowing, or pay a monthly fee and not having to worry about it. What about the young couple with a newborn, which was my situation, that are working hard to move up and running around doing stuff with the kid on weekends as they get older, you don’t think it’s worth it in that situation to pay a fee and not have to worry about anything?

And I don’t know what HOA’s you are talking about, the one I lived in big rule was to take your garbage out after 6 and to have the containers covered so the raccoons don’t eat the garbage. That and move your car out of the driveway when they were snow plowing. And one last one, you were only allowed in the swimming pool with a bathing suit and had to pick up your dogs poop, or get a fine. Not sure why anyone would oppose doing any of that.

Agreed. Theres nothing inherently wrong with HOA's, the problem is that many HOAs (especially in retirement destinations like FL/AZ/NV) are run by obnoxious boomers with nothing better to do than harrass their neighbors.
