Not all what we would call "fascism" were bad. While everyone in the west think that democracy is the only way to rule, it is simply not true. For example, Singapore. For such a tiny country who for the last 50+ years was led by a dictator, its GDP per capita is among the highest in the world. Even Mussolini himself for many years was praised by a lot of great people, including Roosevelt.

Not really, there are democracy polls in most european countries and there's a tendency of 40-50% who want a strong leader figure that doesn't have to report back to the parlament. My country is pretty high in the list. I think last time it was 54%. Fascism is dead in the sense that most countries have a constitution and controlling organs that avoid dictatorships from happening, but the populace learned little from the things that happened in the 30s and 40s of the last century.
