Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida on Wednesday as a powerful Category 4 storm.

Maximum sustained winds were around 150 mph as it hit the southwest coast, at the island of Cayo Costa near Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

The National Hurricane Center has warned of "life-threatening storm surge, catastrophic winds and flooding in the Florida Peninsula," with millions under evacuation orders.

My friend lives in Ft Myers but I couldn't convince him to evaluate. He didn't even stock up on anything like non- perishable snacks.

We Floridians are used to this. Here in Miami, we're not in it's path but we've had hurricane rains for 3 days.

Miami has some of the worst drivers in the world. Was there for a weekend and it sprinkled out and literally people were crashing everywhere because they have to be a foot off your bumper lol

Your friend is probably dead. Fort Myers Beach was under six feet of water.

Here on the Texas gulf coast people were worried about hurricane Ian, but it looks like we won’t be affected.

Nope but starting to feel the winds here in NC. Apparently, we're expecting 6-8 inches of rain between tomorrow and Tuesday.

The hurricane washed away a very expensive McLaren not even owned for a month. Tsk tsk...

Fort Myers was briefly my home for about a year so I know the area quite well. As far as I know everyone I know down there is OK. The beach and boardwalk are either really expensive homes or tourist driven businesses were hit the hardest. Sanibel Island needs a new bridge not sure how well that will work out.
