LeBron seems to be making longevity irrelevant because his career is so remarkable

Longevity doesn't matter at all in sports it actually hurts you when you aren't getting accolades and winning for the organization that you originally played for.

Longevity only matters when all else is equal. Bronie never came close to equaling the top 5 though, so his GOAT ship sailed back around 2011.

Only Bronies value longevity over actual achievements.

For jordon extremist alts, it stopped mattering as soon as LeBron passed jordon in All-NBA 1st teams, playoff points and 25 ppg seasons. Which is a long time ago now. :oldlol:

How about chips and FMVPs? How many more seasons til that happens? 10? 4 chips in 20 years, one more decade, seems about right :lol

It Has absolutely nothing to do with how good you are but obviously has a lot to do with how good your career is. Long as you don’t try to confuse the two it’s a non issue.

It really depends on your productivity....Shaq, Parish, Carter, M. Malone basically were bench playing journeyman

KAJ, Stockton, Lebron, Dirk, Kobe, Duncan those are the guys that hung on for history and were also productive

Basketball isn't as volatile as most sports so it doesn't matter in terms of evaluating how good a player was. Like in baseball it's pretty easy to have a single or multiple flukey seasons. Longevity matters there because you get a larger sample size.

But in basketball it doesn't matter except in terms of "career rankings" which is what basketball fans seems to be obsessed with more than other sports fans.

Duncan is the GOAT career longevity. 5 rings and never miss the playoff

Unlike Lebron 4 beta rings and leading the lakers to the lottery year after year

It clearly matters a lot otherwise Karl Malone wouldn’t be ranked that high

Shortgevity hurts players like Jordone

He's just not long enough.

Karl Malone certainly wouldn't be ranked above Bill Walton if it didn't matter, that's for sure.

But because he faced MJ and was his toughest opponent despite being the og trashbrother you know damn sure they will prop his ass up

Except Karl Malone's losses in the 1994 and 1995 playoffs when the Bulls didn't win. They certainly don't get hyped up, but quietly get swept under the rug, along with the 1994 and 1995 playoff losses of Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Payton/Kemp and whatever rest of jordon's mighty competition that failed to win in 1994 and 1995.

The only thing most of you need to know is that 4 rings in 13 seasons > 4 rings in 17 seasons.
