Some people aren't built to have alot of weight on their frame. Although Davis isn't overweight, he has put on weight in the last couple of years compared to how he use to be. He seems slower, less alethetic, albeit he does seem stronger.

Would you rather have Pelicans Davis or Lakers Davis?

I'm taking Pelicans Davis.

He’s bad built. I don’t know how to explain it but I know it when I see it.

2020 was AD's peak, but obviously I'd rather have the Pelicans version who was actually able to stay on the court. AD's not even 30 years old, so it'd be pretty ridiculous to believe he can't still be an elite player (if he stays healthy, a huge if at this point). But do I expect him to reach his 2020 heights again? Probably not, even when he's played these past 2 years he hasn't come close to the level of play he displayed that first season in L.A. But I'd give him at least one more season before I count him out altogether.

He looked good in the shitty game earlier but yeah. His whole demeanor has seemed different after the ring. He was supposed to be the guy for LA. The world was his oyster. I think after the ring LA just completely lost focus in every way imaginable and tried to play catch up ever since and it's just not working. Hard to blame Anthony Windowpane for being injured and lost in the rotation when on. The whole team has been a joke after 2020. It's very odd.

His role changed. The team never competently replaced Caruso, Kuz, Green or KCP. Say whatever you want about Kuzma's effort on defense, but his size played better against wings than Beverly or Nunn can hope for.

Age-wise, he is not out of his prime.
The question is whether he is finally out of his "I won a ring, so I don't care if I play like shit" phase that he clearly was in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. In the less than half of the games he actually played those two seasons, that is.

Not sure about his prime, but no AD, no playoffs.

Yup, every stat padding Bran does has no effect on the Lakers W/L record. Most meaningless stats ever.

AD's work ethic on off season is why he has failed physically during the season.

Lakers sports medicine team failed as did NO.
(If he was on the Bucks = no injuries I can guarantee it)

He's definitely past his peak, but with injuries continuing to pile up for him, I already think he's on the backend of his prime.

AD was the reason they made the playoffs, every season

That’s what you’re hoping because you’re a Laker hater.

What from that post makes you think I'm a Laker hater?

The defensive responsibilities for both AD and Lebron have increased because of roster composition. I'm still telling anyone who will listen this is comfortably a playoffs team.

When two stars are paired up together:

NBA business model likes to suppress the talents of one star to help sell the talents of the other star.

Why do you think James Harden was a big star in Houston but didn't have same star power in OKC, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia. They suppressed his talent on behalf of Durant and Embiid.

Why do you think Wade's star power declined once Lebron came to Miami.

Why do you think Shaq's star power declined once he was paired up with Wade.

Beverley, Lonnie Walker, and Nunn are taking kcp/caruso/green roles. Lebron will be playing more wing now in Kuz's role. Lakers are thin with wings so will be using multiple guard sets when Lebron sits.

That last sentence is what concerns me the most. AD was always gonna have to take on the challenge of Giannis... but its gonna be tricky in all the other games to put him in a position to help with the lack of size on the roster. Increasing Lebron's defensive responsibility isn't ideal but theres really no other choice.

Giannis is a different type of player then Davis. Giannis is like a big Shooting Guard, Davis is like a power forward who likes to chuck long 2's most of which never go in.

Giannis is MVP caliber, healthy Davis WAS perminal all-star

It wasn't a comparison between AD and Giannis.

The Lakers were always going to defend the Bucks differently than everyone else they play because of Giannis. Because the Lakers don't have size it probably forces their hand in playing that way versus the rest of the league. I like Pat, but...you aren't getting away with Beverly on Kawhi, PG, Bridges, Luka, Tatum, Brown, Butler, Ingram for long stretches. Lebron and AD must shoulder an even heavier load on the defensive end than they do on offense.

He's got 2-3 more years of athletic prime. At age 33 that's when athleticsm declines considerably.

Son never really had a prime.

His “perceived prime” was always with “if….”
