Despite this, and perhaps because of it, Duncan remained an effective defender and leader during the back end of his career, and continued to help the Spurs dominate the league, right up until the end. The Spurs were the ones pushing the Golden State Warriors to 73 wins in 2016 because they did not clinch the first seed until the last week of the season.
