View Full Version : Did David Lee deserve to be All-NBA and an All-Star in 2013?

Everyone knows by now the controversial awards that went to other players instead of Stephen Curry: Iguodala's 2015 FMVP, Durant's 2017 and 2018 FMVPs but are you aware that the media has been giving awards and honors that probably should have gone to Curry but went to a teammate instead even before those picks? What do you think of David Lee's All-NBA and All-Star selections in 2013? Was he the right selection?

No, Curry was the best player on the team. We all know that.

this might seem nonesensical to OP. but Lee couldn't compete against Curry for the all-NBA based on positions being different. same goes for all-star selection as the West were 3 G 4 F; 1 more G than the East.

it'd be like saying the NFL had been stealing the defensive player of the year award from Matt Schuabb to give it to JJ Watt

Pau had an injury-riddled down year. Same with Kevin Love and Dirk. I think Bosh was technically a center that year.

Who deserved it over him? Maybe Lamarcus Aldrige? Zach Randolph? Meh..

Maybe, but Lee was All-NBA, so that means that Curry started with more help than MJ in building the organic dynasty

Rookie Curry also joined a 25 ppg player in Monta, while Klay averaged 13 ppg and started.. That doesn't compare to Jordan's cast of bums as rookie Pippen averaged 8 points off the bench (23 yrs old).

Lee only selected All-NBA after Curry led the team. Iguodala only reached a finals after joining Curry. KD only got a ring with Curry as a teammate.

I see a pattern here.

Lee was an important part of the early success of the Warriors. He was the 3rd or 4th option. Green was a non-factor back then

Curry has a pattern of elevating teammates throughout his career.

What he did with Davidson and then what he did with David Lee are in the direct line of excellence we have seen with Klay, Draymond, Iguodala, KD, and Wiggins who followed.

At that time it maybe looked logical

Lee’s best individual year was with the Knicks.

That Curry needed a shitload of help to beat Lebron?

You're free to interpret it that way if you want.

Same way lebron had to wait till iverson retired to win a chip. Iverson was the only thing in his way

Crazy to think that Curry has never been the best player on his team. Guy was like 25 watching David Lee get Allstar nod over him.

Klay and Dray develop and Iggy comes over. They start winning... curry has always been the same scrub he was in 2013. He hasn't changed. Leaders developed and they won. I'll never give credit to curry for any ring

Jamal Mashburn was All-NBA in 2003.

Anthony Mason in 1997.
