He is a former Finals MVP. And the Pistons were championship contenders from 2002-2008

5× NBA All-Star (2006–2010)
All-NBA Second Team (2006)
2× All-NBA Third Team (2007, 2009)
2× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2005, 2006)
NBA Sportsmanship Award (2009)
No. 1 retired by Detroit Pistons
Consensus second-team All-American (1997)
First-team All-Big 12 (1997)
No. 4 retired by Colorado Buffaloes
McDonald's All-American (1995)
Second-team Parade All-American (1995)
Fourth-team Parade All-American (1994)
3× Mr. Colorado Basketball (1993–1995)
He was almost a 2x NBA Finals MVP. If the Pistons would have beaten the Spurs in 2005 he was the front runner for the finals MVP.

Did not watch him play so i don't know. His resume is nice though.
I don't think so. Some will argue since Iverson is in he shall be too. ( That Nuggets - Pistons trade)

3rd/4th best player on a team that won a single championship. Not sure if thats hof worthy regardless of how blinded people are of his finals mvp wherein he played like shit offensively the first 3 rounds then got lucky in the finals.

Billups was way more unlucky in the 2005 finals, which the Pistons barely lost in 7 than "lucky" in the 2004 finals, which the Pistons comfortably won in 5.
Aside from Ben Wallace, Billups was the only Piston who showed up to play during the 2005 finals. I guess Antonio McDyess also played to win, but he was a bench player.
Had Rip, Sheed and Tayshaun played just 10% better, the Pistons win that series, and Billups has 2 rings and almost certainly 2 Finals MVPs. Except he would've actually deserved the 2005 Finals MVP. The 2004 one should've went to Ben Wallace.

Iverson being in and Chauncey getting in or not have abolsutely nothing to do with each other.

Billups shot 39%fg against the Bucks 18ppg, 35%fg against the Nets 15ppg, 31%fg against the Pacers 12.7ppg until finally shooting above 50% against the injured and imploding Lakers for 21ppg.
For a low efficiency guy like Billups whose career playoff shooting is just 41fg% getting 10% above that is as lucky as it gets and very unexpected

I don't think his chances are any less than someone like Joe Dumars ( Joe prime for prime was better, to be clear), but resume-wise he has a case. For the record, he has the same number of all-star/all-nba appearances as Reggie (which again, is not to say he was better.....just saying his resume checks out). Tony Parker also won a finals MVP during a year when he was at best the 2nd best player, and many would argue third best after Manu, and Tony is eligible this year for the HOF. If he gets in I think it's safe to say Chauncey will, because they're mostly in the same range.

All true I just feel like Billups inefficiency and early offcourt problems gets swept under the rug when talking about him because he was that guy that won finals mvp.

Maybe, but when it comes to getting voted in I don't think the voters will pick out some of those series and exclude him. They'll just look at: multiple all-NBAs? Check. Multiple all-stars? Check. A few all-D nods? Check. Oh and he won a finals MVP? The bullet points check out and they'll likely ignore some of the context you're providing, just my guess.

With some of the people I've seen get in for less, I'm saying yes.

Billups was a high efficiency guy stop using FG%. His TS% was excellent compared to league average.
Ofc. Dude has had a better career than derrick rose.

This conversation reminds me that Joe Dumars wasn't on the 75th anniversary team, despite being the 2nd best player on a back to back title team, finals MVP, 6 time all-star, 3 time all-NBA and 5 time all-defense. :confusedshrug:

It’s impossible to make a top 75 list everyone agrees with. But I do agrees the NBA’s was shit

As time marches on and more players come and go, we're recontextualizing who should or shouldn't be on these lists. I'm not onboard with players being removed, that would disrespectful, but clearly we've seen players come out in the last 25 years that are better than guys who made the original top 50 back in 97.

Players getting removed would just be reflecting reality. It’s not like they would get the honor of 50th anniversary selection removed.

Dwight & McGrady were easily the biggest snubs to me. Those two would've been arguable to make a top 50 list, but to not even make a top 75? Absolutely ridiculous.

Honestly, I completely disagree with this. Having to pretend Lenny Wilkens and Dave DeBusschere were top 75 players ever when they clearly weren't, just so that their feelings don't get hurt, is an invalid reason to keep them on the list unjustifiably. I'd much rather have a list that's accurate than one that isn't due to political correctness.

I just think it's disrespectful to the game's history, ultimately, moreso than disrespect to a specific player. It would be like saying, let's just erase the books before 1980 so that we're only counting stats and achievements from that point on. The fact that the NBA even has a 50th/75th team( and 100th when the time comes) is because they want to preserve legacy. I get your logic, but removing Lenny Wilkins to make way for Tracey Mcgrady goes against that idea.
I think the issue is moreso that the original 50 contained a few key omissions. Dominique, for example, should have made the top 50 back in 97. His selection to the 75th team makes up for that, but that hurts guys like a Tmac or Dwight who are also deserving. And even within the 25 new additions, there's some eyebrow raisers; Dwight should have easily gotten in over someone like Dame ( not a disrespect to him, but shouldn't have been selected over D12).The 100th anniversary team will likely have Dwight and Tmac, but that again means taking spots from two players over the next quarter century who may have warranted inclusion. This will probably ruffle someone like Reggie43's feathers, but I think Joe Dumars was as deserving of a top 75 spot as Reggie, and should have been a bubble candidate for the 50th team.

For a really talented player who never won a single playoff series in his career, T-Mac has absolutely 0 argument for making the top 50 list.
Considering how watered down and easy it seems to get inducted into the Hall, I would say, more than likely, yes.

I respect his game and accomplishments too much to be annoyed by something like that especially considering they are the same level of talent with Miller's clear advantage over Dumars is that he had his own team to lead and he had a longer prime. Always loved Dumars as a player so I might be biased in this comparison lol.

I agree. But Billups built his case entirely on that since Iverson is in he should be too. I don't agree with Billups.

Yes. Apart from the personal and team accolades he was a great leader and key to the success of his team.
