I saw a breakdown of how if they bring everyone back the Warriors combined tax/salary payment will be over 700 million dollars in 2 years.

Wiggins and Dray gonna have to go and they better limit Wiseman’s minutes enough for him to not shine and demand a big deal too.

The nba is already gonna up the repeater tax in the new cba because the other owners hate the warriors spending.

Lacob only paid 450 for the team and he’s paying 400 million a year for it now. His partners must have some deep pockets because he definitely isn’t paying it personally. If the warriors generate income enough to cover all that hats off but I assume some calls have to be made.

I listened to a long time team president explain how that works once. He said when revenue doesn’t match expenses a call goes out and every part owner has to kick in his ownership percentage equal of the money required or the ownership contract lets them kick him out and let somebody else buy that portion.

So if the Warriors owe 200 million and you are a 10 percent owner you gotta come up with 20 million cash or they can sell your stake to whoever and get the cash from him. There’s always billionaires waiting to get a piece and gradually up their percentage till they can just take over when it’s sold so there is no bluffing.

Team wants 20 million you pay it or leave the ownership group.

How many you think have 50 million liquid to throw in? And want to do it?

The ownership groups are probably what destroys teams from the inside out. Only gonna kick in so much straight cash to keep winning. Some of these minority owners are rich but not “Hand over a check for 8 million and not feel it” rich.

The money is gonna end their run eventually unless they have some seriously liquid quiet partners.

I'm going to go on a limb and say this is a good deal. I think Poole is a future star, and he's incredibly exciting to watch. It's also a death blow for Draymond getting a contract, so that's nice and karmic.

wouldn’t you always talk about how the nba is going to sign the most lucrative new tv deal that excuses all of this? lol

Curry is a legacy player that’s going to get paid what he wants for the rest of his career. Part of the terms of that agreement is his permanent rent free stay in your tiny head.

It doesn’t need excusing. There’s nothing wrong with it if they wanna pay. It just seems unlikely they can.

The cap will jump but it won’t jump to 400 million so the tax is an issue unless as i said…some part owner had a lot of cash they aren’t in love with.

Theres a set amount of the years pay you have to prove you have just sitting around liquid to follow the ownership rules and it’s apparently a problem at times.

Lacob already said there’s no way they can keep doing it. The cap is one thing. It’s the repeater luxury tax that can make it 500 million. That’s just a straight 250-300 million cash payment leaving someone’s pockets. That’s tough to ask.

It somehow seems wrong to punish the Warriors like this. They're not the G Steinbrenner Yankees just buying up all the talent. They only have had one major FA signing and he left. It's like they're being punished for drafting well. Was that the reason they instituted the cap, to force strong cores to break apart? The idea was to keep good teams together, no?

Of course the reality is that it's completely about money but whatever.

They could be profitable especially when you consider that teams could make money in ways that aren't conventionally measured.

Poole isn’t a good defender and the Celtics made him unplayable (except garbage time) when Wiggins and draygod are gone warriors will be severely weak defensively

3-14 is a curry shooting line in the finals, not their record last year with poole and no curry.

I don't see Draymond Green going anywhere honestly just think hes going to suck it up and take the paycut to resign with the Warriors.
I just don't see any contenders willing to pay him what he wants it's either sign with the Warriors or take the MLE from the Lakers.

Curry has the greatest win % impact when he plays vs when he doesn't compared to any top 10 great throughout his career. 32.5%, Lebron is second on 30% and MJ 3rd on 25.5%. Then everyone else is 21% or lower.

Axe
10-17-2022, 06:20 PM
That win % impact with him alone doesn't instantly translate to playoff berths tho when an all-star teammate is absent for the whole rs.
