Pretty much this. There are a few examples you can find of politicians that might not be 100% captured (people like Ron Paul, Donald Trump, Tulsi Gabbard, Thomas Massie, Bernie back in 2015), but ultimately if you go left, right, or center you are probably playing by house rules... gotta go an entirely different direction - up or down maybe.

It would be pretty hard to have leaders (aka a state) with the workers controlling the means of production. Can’t imagine any state allowing it. No state has so far. Marx used socialism and communism interchangeably and know he defined communism as stateless. Thus I would say the best way to get to socialism is through anarchist methods. We’ve seen people try to use the state to get socialism (or so they claimed) and it hasn’t worked at all.

The best way I can think of is small business, small govt. but eventually a titan like Amazon will come along and offer the same shit for 15% off what small local businesses sell for and take over, and that’s on the consumers. And we would still need a federal govt to rally the country as a whole during, for example, times of war.
