View Full Version : Lebron earned his Laker glory with the 2020 chip. It’s on AD now to lead.

Lebron’s Laker career is already a ginormous success because he resurrected them and literally won the most IMPORTANT title in their history (to honor the late great Kobe Bryant) and the most DIFFICULT (psychologically grueling bubble environment).

Nothing can take away from Lebron at this point. Hes 38 years old. He’s done everything hes supposed to and more. He is a forever legend.

It’s Davis’s responsibility to lead the franchise now, and any failure that happens is squarely on his shoulders.

That said, LeWizard may still find a way to push this team to success, and that would be a huge bonus credit to him. But any failures are solely on AD now.

Exactly. Just like in 2011, when Wade and Spo conspired to make Wade the Batman, and thats why they lost. That does not count as a blemish on Lebron’s record, because he wasnt in the lead dog role. Lebron CANNOT be blamed.

Thats where we are now. It’s AD’s legacy on the line from here on out. Not Lebron’s.

Westbrook is too much of a negative to overcome imo

Kirk Goldsberry: Anthony Davis is the least efficient jump shooter in the NBA over the last 2+ seasons. Among 178 players that have attempted at least 500 jump shots since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, Davis has logged the lowest eFG% on those shots at 35.99 – no other player is below 40 (http://twitter.com/kirkgoldsberry/status/1582739130391281666?s=46&t=LEU6xCINLodWlYEhEJa9WA)

Last night he still looked like the crappy version of AD from the previous two seasons, and not the one from 2019-20.
Plus I saw him holding his knee after he fell on the floor, so it's probably only a matter of time before AD does what AD does most.

Yes, he was incredible shooting the ball in the NBA Bubble — he shot 40% from 10-16 feet away from the basket and 55% from 16 feet out to 3-point range, according to Basketball Reference. But that version of Anthony Davis has not returned since then. In the seasons since, he’s shot 37% from both of those areas, respectively, and just 22% from 3-point range overall.

What’s so baffling about this is that Davis hasn’t always been this terrible jump-shooter. It once served as his bread and butter in his days as a Pelican. Through his years in New Orleans, he shot 43% from 10-16 feet and 38% from 16 feet and beyond. For him to have regressed so sharply is stunning. And it’s not like these are difficult jumpers, either. Davis shot 0-7 on open jumpers against the Warriors with a defender between 4-6 feet away from him. Those were makeable shots.

good luck with that

How does that even happen?? I feel like he was incredibly efficient with the midrange shot.

Maybe the injuries made him lazier and/or slower when setting those up.

the bubble :lol

He was actually worse in the bubble than in the 2019-20 regular season games before the bubble. The pre-bubble 2019-20 regular season games were definitely his best period with the Lakers.

and the off season before the bubble allowed him to be 100% for a change
