View Full Version : Is Anthony Davis the worst/softest rebounding star PF/C of all time?

The only other I can think of in the category of rebounding softness is Chris Bosh. There are certainly no others that are worse.
I know there was late career Kareem. But Kareem was one of the league's best rebounders early in his career, and even led the league in rpg one season. It was clear that he completely eliminated rebounding duties from his game later on, in order to prolong his longevity (unlike the beastly LeBron, but that's another story).
And the worst part is that despite his softness on the boards, Always Damaged Day-to-Dayvis still finds ways to constantly get injured.
Anyone remember his 2 rebound game/1 rebound halfs in the later games of the conference finals against the Nuggets in the bubble?
After hitting that buzzer beater, that could've been the one series of those playoffs where you could claim without trolling that Davis was the Lakers MVP of the series.
But nope. He softed it up later in the series (averaged 4.0 rebounds in 39.3 minutes over the last 3 games), while MVP LeBron closed the series for the Lakers with his lockdown defense on multiple 50 point game Murray in the 4th quarter of game 4, and his offensive barrage in the 4th quarter of game 5.

The worst rebounding star PF/C is definitely Sheed. I get the fact he spaced the floor on offense and took 3's, which would diminish his opportunities for offensive rebounds, but his career high for rebounding was 8.2 rpg, which is EASILY worse than AD :lol

He's playing on a team with two stat-padders who refuse to play D...
He was an elite rebounder pre-Bran with 6 straight 10+ RPG seasons & 12 RPG his last season in NO..

Much like the misleading Bosh, who grabbed approximately 150% of all the Raptors cheap rebounds from opponents' missed 2nd free throws and the like, Day-to-Dayvis exposed himself for the softie that he truly is once he arrived in a winning environment. A point guard-playing LeBron averaged over a rebound more than him during the Lakers' championship playoff run in 2020.

In 2020-21 a 35 year-old Dwight Howard averaged 8.4 rebounds over 17.3 minutes per game for the Lakers.
In 2020-21 a 27 year-old Day-to-Dayvis averaged 7.9 rebounds over 32.3 minutes per game for the Lakers.
That's how soft Day-to-Dayvis is. And despite his lack of physical contact, he still somehow missed over half of that season due to injuries.

LeBron put in effort on defense.
Not these guys fault they were in position to rebound while AD was busy trying to start fast breaks. You obviously didn't watch the game so you wouldn't understand anyway.

I'm talking about his time in LA in general.. and Bran coasts on defense more than his stans will ever admit.. People on ISH act like he's going 100% on both ends when that hasn't been the case since mid 2010s but you can keep lying to yourself that he's still his prime self in year 20 lol..

How did he do in the playoffs during that time?

I’m gonna go ahead and archive this post so it can be brought up for Post of the Year consideration when the nominee committee convenes in December. I think it is a strong candidate.
5*’s.

Yeah, Sheed used to rebound something like 6 rebounds per game a season, which was very little for a PF. I also remember Charlie Villanueva not rebounding that much, and also Eddy Curry. Their rebounding averages were very surprising (for the worse) for frontcourt players.

Kelly Olynyk averages like 5 Reb a game at 7ft tall lol

He use to be a better rebounder before putting on weight season before last. He was a weak lowerbody.

His match-up tonight, perennial all-star and certain first ballot HOF juggernaut Ivica Zubac, outrebounded him by 9 and had a better overall stat line.
Fun fact: In addition to his poor rebounding, Day-to-Dayvis also has 0 assists in his two games so far.

Kinda hard to get assists when the team is on pace to have the worst 3PT% in NBA history
AD is constantly doubled and forced to play on the perimeter due to horrible spacing
Him and Bev were the only starters with a positive +/- due to their defense, Lakers got destroyed when AD went out in the 2nd half lol

I see, and how do you defend his worst-of-the-game +/- against the Warriors? His defense sure was on lockdown mode, holding Iviceem Abdul-Zubbar to a perfect 100% from the floor.
I'm pretty sure that Day-to-Dayvis wasn't on the floor when the Lakers took the lead in the 4th after LeBron's monster block on a Paul George layup attempt that ended with a Lonnie Walker fast-break alley-oop on the other end.

Current league leaders in rebounding:
1. Anthony Davis - 12.8
2. Rudy Gobert - 12.8
3. Clint Capela - 11.9
Just in case anybody needed any additional proof that OP is an idiot.

Pretty bad take. AD averaged 11 RBPG with NOLA and currently leads the league this year. He's also been top 10 in rebounds 4 times in his career. He's not a rebounding monster but classifying him as the worst really underrates him.

Yet a few days ago you said they are expected to compete for a championship this season.
