Why do some people still wear masks in San Francisco?

I don't know how it is where you are, but many people still wear masks in San Francisco. I don't really understand it. Isn't the pandemic officially over now? Even Biden said it. Covid may not be over, but the pandemic is. At best, Covid is a cold now. So wouldn't you think everyone would love to take the mask off by now?

I guess some people are just trained to wear it now.

At first it was to protect themselves from Covid, but now it's to protect themselves from the overwhelming stench of human feces on the streets and sidewalks. San Francisco is the feces on the street capital of the world.
