Low key just lost some respect for him wanting to be the Duncan of his team instead of the Lebron.

How bout a little ambition, bro?

Lol.

Murray is no Parker, MPJ is no Ginobili and their coach (who I can't remember who is) is no Pops.

You'd respect him more if he jumped ship and colluded instead?

The **** is wrong with you?

He's setting his sights high. Good for him.

Then he's gonna have to start impacting the defensive end. Like the mentality though.

Good player to model your career after. Glad he’s not thinking of colluding in others teams as a career path.

Im not sure this is possible for 7 footers today the same way it was for Duncan. Even a defensive specialist like Toody gets habitually cooked. Embiid is very agile for his size but still gets put on skates at times. Teams are so good on the perimeter now they can force bigs to come out where theyre less effective.

The best defensive bigs now seem to be quicker, springy guys like Robert Williams, but the tradeoff is they lack the girth to be dominant post players offensively.

I’m not sure even Duncan himself could be Duncan in today’s game. It just comes down to how the game has evolved. Teams are much more advanced in knowing how to punish centers defensively.

Old man Duncan played in the 3 point era. And he looked fine.

Offenses have evolved significantly even in just the last five years.

Duncan would adapt. He was great defensively. But I would assume his offense would change. He might stretch his range to the 3pt line or attack more downlow because teams are playing more small ball, and he could punish that more. But he could hit the mid range too. Solid passer from the post. It just depends on how the coach would play him.

But good on Jokic for having that type of ambition. Good luck to him and the nuggets franchise and fans.

Not really. Duncan would be totally fine and just as dominant if not moreso. Sure his defense might take a hit, but his offense gets a boost because of 1) softer rules & 2) weaker bigmen. So there's a clear tradeoff.

Anyway, nobody is asking Jokic to play on Duncan's level defensively. Just to have a significant impact.

he does

Good for him. Right now though he’s more Steve Nash of the Denver Nuggets than Tim Duncan of the Denver Nuggets.

When a championship or two then we’ll talk.

He contests the rim decently but he does struggle to keep up with all the motion of opponents. Hes impressively nimble for a man his size, but hes still usually the most lumbering player on the court now that a lot of teams play tweeners at center. Just cant recover as quickly at his stature to keep up with guys once they get a step on him.

Even so. Duncan was pretty athletic in his prime and one of the smartest players ever. He'd adapt.

He probably wont be as dominant defensively, but he wont be a liability either.

And on offense, remember how an old Duncan sonned a prime Cousins when he got pissed.

People overstate the "Advancement" of offenses which just boils down to going one on one off a switch and spreading the floor

No one picks on Steven Adams one on one or Jonas Valancucias consistently every play

perhaps he can convince robinson and ginobili to come out of retirement

throw in a kawhi draft pick somewhere

etc.

With better stats.

Smart man

All these players all wants to be Duncan or Kobe

No one wants to be like Lebron lol. Having a Lebron career is aiming too low

Any jabroni can easily accomplish what lebronze has lololol
