View Full Version : Why can't LeBron carry teams like he used to when he can still score 30?

30 points is 30 points so why can't he win 50-60 games with bad teams like he used to when he was in his 20s?

He even scored 56 (I think?) against the Warriors last year so he clearly still is an elite player by any standard.

It seems like he can get to the rim at will too. His jumper isn't great but it never has been.

His production has barely declined at yet his impact on winning clearly has. Why?

Mo joined a bummy, 45-win loser in 2009 - he made them a great by showing everyone for the first time that Lebron's game needs elite shooting help..

Fifth-year Lebron only won 45 games in 2008 and wet the bed in those playoffs (26 on 35% vs Celtics) - the Cavs went 7 games in spite of Lebron's anemic performance because they had a reputed defense that held the Celtics below their normal averages.

So Lebron was "carrying" decorated veterans to 45-50 wins, which isn't that great (fyi - the all-star duo of Lebron/Zydrunas added a 22/6/5 all-defender to make the 06' Playoffs).

The reality is that Lebron wasn't that good at carrying teams.. It's just another false narrative by the media.. Heck, he had the best 2nd option in his conference in 2018 but barely won 50 games

Why couldn't Foolish jordon get his team to a higher seed than an all-star-less team whose best player and leading scorer by a substantial margin was a rookie Chuck Person when he could score 37 points per game?

Because he was in his 2nd healthy season (87') - 2nd year Lebron was lottery with the East all-star center in 05'

I’d be losing my hair too if I had to play with this trash lakers roster.

He doesn't play defense. He allows more points than he scores. That's why I've said in all seriousness that he's a net negative at this point in his career, but his fans just get upset when I say that, even though it's obvious to anyone who understands basketball.

Exactly

It's such a basic concept, yet they just won't accept it.

He isn't as active. Young and prime James was everywhere and it he was pushing himself you couldn't tell with how he was getting chase down blocks and powering to the basket. Now that he's older he can pace himself and still get his numbers but he doesn't have the same impact.

But they are also hurt by the lack of shooting. James had never been in such a poor shooting team. In the modern NBA that's an especially big problem.
