KEY STATS: Offensively, the Magic will likely lean on the 2022 NBA Draft’s No. 1 overall pick to propel their attack. With three point guards on its roster currently sidelined, Orlando has put the keys to its offense in the hands of the Duke alum. And without a shred of doubt, he’s responded.

Banchero is just the third No. 1 overall pick to score 20-plus points in his first six games, joining Elvin Hayes (10 games – 1968-69) and Oscar Robertson (six games – 1960-61).

His 141 points over a six-game span to start his career are the second-most in Magic history, trailing only Shaquille O’Neal, who scored 158 points in 1992.

“People hit me up after the game (and) text me all these stats, but this is just – not even to sound full of myself or anything – what I expect out of myself,” said Banchero. “Playing at this level (and) being able to score. I feel like I’ve been blessed by God with the body, the skill, the IQ, so what I’m doing is what I expect to be doing.”

IN AND OUT: Orlando will be without Cole Anthony (right internal oblique muscle injury), Markelle Fultz (fractured big left toe), Gary Harris (left knee injury recovery), Jonathan Isaac (left knee injury recovery), Jalen Suggs (sprained right ankle) and Moe Wagner (sprained right midfoot).

For Dallas, Davis Bertans (right knee effusion) and Frank Ntilikina (right knee effusion) are out.

Luka needs to involve the team more if he wants to win anything in the post-season. He's obviously the best offensive player on the team, but his dominating the ball for entire possessions while the rest of the team literally stands still watching him is not a recipe for success.

I suspect Luka feels the pressure of the MVP predictions hes been getting the last couple years, and is trying to force it into fruition by getting his point totals as high as possible. He’s gotta focus less on those kinds of pressures.

That said, he’s 14/23 with zero turnovers and a +7 on the court tonight, which in a vacuum is pretty good and wont likely reinforce the idea that anything needs to change.
