Would he be a good coach under different circumstances?
Is he a poor coach under any circumstances?
...Something else?

He has the knowledge and intelligence. He does not have the experience. There are ciaches that work lower jobs for decades before they get a head coach job in the NBA. A few years as an assistant could have made a big difference. The fact that his two stars don't respect him as much as they should is also a problem, he needed to be empowered and may not be. If he wants a long coaching career he should take a job as an assistant under a great coach before he tries to be head coach again.

It’s clear from his playing days he understands the game very well, I think what he lacks as a coach is motivational presence. Unfortunately for him he’s got probably the least motivated group of guys in the NBA. So the fit is exceptionally terrible.
Could he coach effectively on a team like the Bucks or Warriors? Im sure he could. But the Brooklyn fit is basically the worst possible. Part of that is the team construction, but part is also his own shortcomings.

Would never have given him MVP, could be a good coach in a different situation (like Jason Kidd)

Having no coaching experience, then trying to be head coach of the head case Nets, is a problem.

He is Steve Nash, a great player but as a coach not working.

I'd like to follow up with these two by asking if you have confidence he could turn this around quickly like Kidd's trajectory? Does Nash strike you as openminded enough to accept the deficits he has a head coach? Openminded is a lot different than being a nice guy. Sometimes the nicest guy can be the most stubborn to admit he was wrong. My point of view is the way he continues to accomodate kyrie raises a major red flag. For every criticism I have of Doc Rivers... the one thing he excelled at in his time with the Clippers was getting his players to buy in. I am not sure that skill of...I dont know what else to call it but 'commanding' is one that can be learned.
Fultz I would like to ask you especially...if you can set aside the hyperbole that would be great. In what ways do you think coaching Lebron James helped Kidd prepare for his second tour? I'm on your side here that being in a competitive environment with a Lebron team expected to win really aided him in the transition to head coach. I am not able to express that thought as well as I believe you can. Not asking you to sell Lebron short, just dont extend it into ridiculous :lol about his influence and impact. I hope that doesn't come across the wrong way.

There is no real way to measure impact of a coach on a team. Even if coaches change their teams, and teams start to win/loose more under new coaching, it doesn't tell all that much because teams are generally change a lot during offseason. So anyone who tells you that he knows whether Nash is a bad or good coach is lying.

he'd look like a genius if he had a defensive center , that rebounds like a magnet

He is not a coach by personality.
He sucks with the Nets, really really bad.
Last week I saw a time out late in the game on a challenge. After the challenge was ruled on, Nash calls a time out! He had no play ready to go. This is so fundamentally ****ed up. If playing basketball for 40 years is not enough to tell you to have a play ready during a time out late in the game there is no hope for you. You are just not a coach.

Nope.
In was but two/three months in when I was already screaming at the TV about his terrible coaching. By New Year's his first season I had already given up on him.
