They should call Udoka. They're already a controversial mess and he's the best available coach.

Honestly, not the worst idea I've heard :lol As you said, the team is already such a mess, might as well sign a young talented coach who comes with immense baggage.

coaches always believe they can fix something and you have even more young coaches who have been dying to prove their systems would work if they could implement them. Add in having legit superteam talent and the number of good shooting role players when healthy and them being on pace for 20 wins? When every person reading this would bet their life they would have eventually pulled it together enough to be better than that?

It’s talent plus the opportunity for an easy turnaround that was inevitable to begin with. Someone would want the job even with the nuts they have to deal with. Being mid season I assume it’s gonna be someone on staff unless they call Dantoni back who everyone forgets was there a year ago.

I don’t know how many old retread coaches want to go to such a volatile situation but the gimmicky guys like Dantoni and the young guys who just want to prove themselves and figure with this much talent they can do it?

I bet they have options.

He’s technically not actually available. He’s still under contract, no?

If the Nets want him the C’s will no doubt be opportunistic about it and require them to make a trade of some kind. Not sure what the Nets have to offer in that regard. Im sure the teams could work something out if both sides are interested, but worth noting the Nets cant just go and sign him on their own.

Anyway, Nash is a nice guy and probably knowledgeable but he was an awful fit.

Nash is the kind of coach young players eager to learn might respect. But a player like Kyrie who thinks he already knows everything? He was never going to respect Nash and his passive doormat demeanor.

Marks has done his job well. He has not been the problem.

Well, this off season not so much but I don't know all the restrains he had placed on him.

got to blame someone. It's certainly not Kyrie or Durant's fault

Who else is waiting for the turn around and everyone to claim the players threw the start of the season to get Nash out which is what KD demanded in the offseason and pretended to drop?

Nash is too timid to be HC for that team. You need 'dawg' like Ime. A rough rider. The type of cat who's got the stones to **** the owner's wife.

If nash writes a tell all book I will applauds it. Normally that shipt is tacky but in this case they deserve it.

Doesnt really make sense to hire a white coach if Kyrie X is on the roster. It’s clear he will resent it and seek to sabotage whomever comes in.

Funny thing is… do they have to interview a white guy just to satisfy diversity requirements, or is the rule written so that you only “must” interview a minority candidate but it’s ok if you don’t interview any white ones? :lol Im honestly curious, I dont know exactly how that stuff works. Would be kind of a funny irony tho if they somehow broke a diversity protocol by not interviewing a white guy lmao.

That said, no coach will make a difference. Kyrie doesnt take his basketball career seriously and simply doesnt care about winning basketball games. It’s not important to him. No coach will change that.

Maybe try Kyrie as a playercoach? He really is balling right now.He could be the 1st person to ever win Coty + mvp in the same season if he can turn this thing around.

Shams Charania: Ime Udoka has emerged as a strong frontrunner to be the next Brooklyn Nets head coach and the sides have begun discussions, (https://*********.com/social/) sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . Nets are in the midst of their search process and are continuing to do due diligence.

guess the Lakers get COTM after all

The Nets' lack of defense isn't the coach's fault. They need some roster changes although their mediocrity offensively has been puzzling. Nash could have implemented a better offensive system. Then again this team lacks a full time PG so the ceiling isn't that high even just offensively... In 2021 when the Nets were healthy, they were a title contender that was 1 inch of KD's foot away from eliminating the eventual champs so I wouldn't say Nash's tenure was a total failure at all.

extracted from Nets :durantunimpressed:

While a squad led by a Hall of Fame former player who had previously worked with Durant in Golden State seemed like a recipe for success, the Nets never reached the lofty goals set for the team under Nash.

Ben Simmons is expected to take over the seat

At least they fired him early into the season. He did a decent job despite all the injuries in 2021 but he had no chance with this team. 0 respect from the 3 star players and so far they've played the worst defense in the league.

Wow so Boston doesn't have worry about the Ime situation any more and the Nets get probably the best coach they could conceivably get.

Nash has to feel at least a partial sense of relief.

Nash is not a good coach, wasn't a good fit, and the team is a dumpster fire as stands. Won't be making much noise without a trade

Actually having Udoka on standby was a security blanket in case Mazullo fails. If having him on suspension was a problem they would have just fired him. This gives the Nets a little more hope which isn't good for the Celtics either. Maybe this makes the Celtics look better to coaches in general but otherwise Celtics get nothing out of this and maybe create a problem if Udoka can fix Simmons and/or get Irving under control.
