You'd need to make ten Finals and be the #1 option for all ten runs.

Some guys only made 6 :confusedshrug:

Some guys only made 6 :confusedshrug:This is why I always say that this is a more impressive record than breaking KAJ's all time reg season scoring record. It requires consistent winning in the playoffs to get enough games to even achieve. Obviously, no record is actually unbreakable, but this one might last a while.

I think it is unbreakable

The toughest NBA record to break will be Wilt's 100 points.

And even that's not unbreakable.

More impressive than how many points is how many finals won. Going 6 times and winning 6 times is more impressive than going 10 times and losing 6 times. Actually that may be the unbreakable record, will anyone pass Lebron’s 6 finals losses?

Completely disregarding context is the best way to pick your favorite player to argue about. :facepalm

Like the context of only winning rings by colluding and stacking super teams? That kind of context?

The one record I think will never come close to being broken is Wilt averaging 48.5 minutes a game in 62-63. That's just absurd.

This might be. Also his 50ppg.

I can see the 100 point game being broken one day. We had players score in the 70s and an 81 point game despite the game not being designed to go through one guy only. If a team made an effort in this era to let a player score 100 it could happen.

For this record to be broken another near 30ppg guy would need to come around at age 19 and make the finals half of his career. He'd also need quite an amount of G7 decisions. This guy isn't in the league yet obviously and might never be.

The disparity in total and ppg ranking pretty much shows this is about games played.

The disparity in total and ppg ranking pretty much shows this is about games played. And how do you have a high amount of games played? You have to win and advance rounds. So you have to score 25-30 ppg while consistently winning to the tune of making a literal decade worth of finals(this also means you have to be the best player on a contender virtually every season). And yes there are outliers when it comes to total points vs ppg, Allen Iverson is the biggest one that comes to mind. Third all time in playoff ppg, but outside of 2001 wasn't really able to win.

And as far as a current player doing it, Doncic might have a shot. Just to put it into perspective, he will have to replicate this past 32 ppg playoff run about 14 more times to be there. That's absolutely insane, I know, but he's definitely the closest if you factor in age, talent, crafty old man game and the fact that he seems like he can stay relatively healthy.

+1

7,631 PTS aint for TMac's and Iverson's of the world :lol

PPGz is cute. But total is better, showing you can do it for a LONG time.
