Flicked over to some mindless tv show and seen the host celebrating this "milestone" lol. Apparently 7,999,999,999 didn't matter so why celebrate one more?

Feels like living in a strange movie sometimes. Shit is backwards.

Well at least we know most of ISH’s members didn’t contribute to the increase in population

The population growth rate is definitely on the decline. Millennials and Gen Z can't have kids cause they are still kids mentally and can't afford them. And the more people stay at home across the globe due to work or just playing video games, the less chances are there for people to meet organically. The only countries that are still outbreeding the rest of us are definitely the poorest countries like India and some countries in Africa. Not sure if China has lifted their one child rule.

Another reason growth is slowing is because microplastics and other endocrine disruptors are causing a dramatic reduction in male fertility. The avg male sperm count is currently ~50% of what it was in 1970

This is very true. My Mom was asking me the other day why she's not a grandmother yet and I was telling her it's a miracle she's not a grandmother to several children already. I never wear condoms.

There's only one way to solve this.

So you explained to your mother that you never wear condoms and have beta sperm? I'm sure that made her feel better about the situation.

Conservatives love the matriarch of the family and don't hate them for not aborting them.

It's reportedly 7 million but tbh there's a big difference between dying FROM covid and dying WITH covid. Many of the people who died with covid already had some underlying condition that was further exasperated due to covid, which declined their health even quicker.

India still has a young overall population so once those youngsters marry, the population will continue to rise there. The number of kids per couple in India is dropping though and people are marrying later so that might help off-set a bit. Education is also better than in generations past, which helps with population growth. Life expectancy is also much improved from decades earlier so couples don't need to have 7-8 kids like they used to. Education again comes into play here and better access to birth control. Growth there must come under control though soon because there are too many people on the streets & not many resources. It's obviously unsustainable.

Many African countries still have long ways to go.

10-12 billion IMO is probably the highest population you want to go globally. This planet can't realistically sustain more than 12 billion without a significant drop in quality of life. I guess if people are okay with a significant drop in quality of life then 15-18 billion, but I would not recommend that lol

Regardless of how many people Covid itself killed, the consequent supply chain issues and global inflation of goods is what currently has tens of millions of people in the lowest income, highest birth rate parts of the world at risk of starvation and social collapse as we speak.

My view on Covid has evolved over time. I do think some folks like Rufuspaul may have gone a bit overboard in literally hiding under the bed from it. But realistically, it may have been in our best interest to make sure it was addressed for the long term. I had Covid a few months ago, and it sucked. And ya know, it wouldnt have been great if everyone caught it at once, then stores and stuff would have no staff for weeks at a time.

So quarantining and pumping a bunch of money into the economy did have its purpose.

Sometimes ya gotta give a little to get a little.
