Who had the better career Payton or Chris Paul?

Probably Chris Paul. Both made it to the finals, neither won a championship.

Payton was a 9x all star, CP was a 12x.

Payton was 9x all NBA, CP 11.

You have to give Payton the nod as a defensive player, but CP was an elite defender in his younger days too. CP led the league in steals and assists a number of times. Overall, I'd say Paul had a slightly better career.

It's close. GP was a better lead personality and affected the game in a lot of ways.

CP was absolutely a better player though.

I'd take Paul.

GP didn't choke as much in the POs & was a DPOY so I gotta go with him.

You could put Chris Paul with the four worst players in the league and he would elevate his team to the playoffs. He is legitimately one of the five greatest players to never win MVP

Paul has definitely had a better career but I would consider taking GP on my team if both in their primes. Payton was just more durable while Paul would get injured in the playoffs half the time.

Payton. CP3 has too many blown series for me to put him above Payton.
