It was an offensive struggle to start the season due to historically bad 3PT shooting to be fair, and Bran's own 3PT chucking didn't help. It does seem like the offense flows better without him on the court right now, albeit against worse teams, though Brooklyn was playing well for a stretch there so that's at least one decent team they did beat without Bran.

Obviously they should be better with Lebron on the team, as long as they keep feeding Davis like they have in these last 3 games. AD is one of the GOAT lob threats and is incredibly efficient at the rim, their game plan should be to feed him as much as possible to open up the rest of their offense. It does seem to me like Bran is more concerned about his numbers and getting the scoring record as fast as possible though and I hope that trend doesn't continue once he comes back. He's too old to be dominating the ball as much as he does.

And I'm not reading Bran's mind, I'm just stating the obvious here. He's clearly in a decline in his late 30s so he's chucking 3s to make up for whatever he's lost athletically, but the issue is that he was never an elite shooter so he's wasting a lot of possessions out there and making the offense worse by doing this. I'm not saying he's only playing for his numbers, but he clearly cares about maintaining his averages, it would be stupid to argue otherwise. Bran is still very much capable of being a top 10 player in the league and if he plays to his strengths the Lakers should be a contender if they're healthy enough. Lakers need a version of Bran that puts up 25/7/8 type numbers on great efficiency/not as many 3s and not the Bran that averaged 30 with just 6 assists a game last year. He needs to put more of the scoring load on a prime/peak AD.
